There are other fabulous Florida folks I hope will be joining our fine team. Will post when I hear from them.

Ok, here's who we've got confirmed for our teammates:

  • Renee (Renee)
  • Rbschlesinger (Rob)
  • Lucy (Christine)
  • Tri Take Me Away (Jessica)
  • BetsyBromley (Betsy)
  • GatorGirl22 (Lisa)
  • F150mco (Jeff)
  • DRM (Don)

Teammies, I am so excited about our team roster!!! We've got an AWESOME team. All each of you has to do is set a realistic goal and obtain it. Do carefully consider any holiday parties (and resulting hangovers, meaning no swimmy-swim) you are attending and possible pool closure dates, as well.

Do not underestimate our opponents. Be forewarned - Jeff Bostic (jkbostic) will probably throw together a stealth Carolina team and they are a formidable bunch.

What the girls learned from spanking the boys (in the original swim challenge) is that to win you simply must stay on top of your goals. Meet your weekly goal. Don't fall behind. You don't have to exceed or kill your goal, just meet it.

If you want to change the team name, I am totally open.

Hah! Love it, Christine. On that note, here's a suggestion for what everyone has to change their avatar to when they lose to Florida Force...

Had a thought... we could just have them change their avatar to have 3 bold letters: DNF.

But... that's more of a 'shame' kind of avatar and I'm going more for 'ridicule'...

Teammies, any ideas???????

I had an Uncle named Rich but we called him Dick! No offense :-)

I pool train at the Central FL Suntree/Cocoa YMCA's and open water in Melbourne Beach (Indian River Lagoon). I need to do A LOT MORE swimming than I've done in the recent past to have a better 2006 tri season. After looking at the all the Gold level plans, even the 12 week Sprint beginner December time frame swim yardage is looking down right scary at 25,000 yds. I found aSprint maintenance plan with 9000 yards but will be bored to tears with the run and bike! Can't we change this to run or bike challenge again, its' the perfect time of year in FL to do those!!!

Oh, what to commit to...Help!

I've gotten so used to associating posters by avatar.  This will be a very confusing month if we go the avatar punishment method.   I went nuts looking at multiple posts of fat dudes in small suits just a few days ago!

just my two bits.

Your name was Rich. It's Rob now.

Just kidding. I'll correct it. Sorry!

I'll be training at the heated Interbay pool in the early am. Guess I should check their hours to be sure...

Betsy, you need to set your own goal based on what is good for your training.  I need to look at my plan and see where it puts me for yardage...I'll do that later.

I swim mostly at the Northdale YMCA but make the trip to the 50 meter Y pool in New Tampa whenever I can.

Renee, I love the Darth Vader avatar!!!  That is so funny!

Betsy, I see you had 2 swims in September and nothing since then. Are you a swimmer? What can you handle? What's your average swim distance per practice? Plan to swim 3 times a week - if that is your habit - deduct holidays/days your pool is closed/slacker days/hangover days and multiply final days x what you KNOW you can do in one practice. Not what you can do at the top of your game, when you've been swimming consistently but rather know what you can do when you are easing back into the pool.

Alrighty then, so what's everyone planning on doing?

Just calculated out the swim yardage from the training plan and it looks like I'm up for 17,600 big ones...

I haven't decided on my yardage yet, trying to figure out how much I will be increasing over the month, or if I should just go with a middle figure. It will be somewhere between 14 and 20,000 yards.

Are there any other folks from Sarasota out there?

I'm going to pledge 30,000 meters for December.  That means I have to do ALL of my scheduled swims.  That is the challenge for me. The yardgage is easy, actually getting myself to do it is the hard part.

OK I'm gonna start low here, I've only been swimming competitively since June and I don't wanna overestimate myself. I'm gonna go with 8,000 meters...I think that turns out to be 8,800 yards right? I know it doesn't matter, but just so we have an idea without having to do all this crazy math. I do math for a living, I definitely don't need to do it here where I can actually escape my work! LOL

Go FORCE!!!
