Good run. 8 minute first mile. By 3 mile mark I was beating my 5K PR and was wondering if I might hit 48. However, the last mile was pretty tough. It was really all I could do to stay upright and run without losing speed. I was hungry and tired. The hill at the very end nearly killed me and I was a little peeved to be passed by two men just at the curve before the finish, but I put it all out there and gave it my best effort.

Better nutrition beforehand might have given me more of an edge, but I really kept a great race pace today and put forth my best effort. I found out much later that I was only twelve seconds out of third place for my age group, so not a bad showing overall!

I think not eating enough.


Great race. Lots of fun things for the kids. A must for next year.
