Subject: Advice?
I have 18 weeks until the triathlon sprint i have entered into and have chosen a 12 week training plan that fits me quite well. I therefore have six weeks until it starts but want to get crackiing right away. I want to do something for 6 weeks that will allow me to learn how to use the training logs and get the hang of it. Ideally, the twelve week plan could be extended to 18 weeks, but i don't think this is possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would definitely suggest the last 6 weeks of the 4-7hr winter maintenance plan if your 12 week plan is the regular sprint plan (http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=634 or the HR version) :

4-7 hr winter maintenance http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=645

But if its the 12 week 'couch to sprint', perhaps some informal training 2x per week in each sport would serve as a good warmup.  Or see if you can start the last 6 weeks of the 4-7 hour winter maintenance COMFORTABLY then go into the regular 12 week sprint plan.

Just some ideas...let us know more about your current training, race goals, etc.

Regarding using the logs, several articles here: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/index.asp?catid=122 and Marmadaddy hosts an online training log chat on using some features every Sunday nite or by special request. See http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=35443

You can always ask any log questions here too.
