Why can't Austin keep a sponsor??????

Dear runners,

Thanks for taking part in the 15th annual Freescale Austin Marathon! It was the coldest day in the race's history, but you faced the weather head-on and won!

I wanted to personally tell you that after two years of moving toward this day, Freescale Semiconductor has formally ended its sponsorship of the Austin Marathon.

When the Austin Marathon Foundation was established last year, it was with the expectation that the Austin Marathon would become self-sufficient to meet the operating requirements of the Austin Marathon.  With the conclusion of the 2006 marathon, we have reached that point. 

The Austin Marathon Foundation thanks Freescale Semiconductor and its employees for putting the Austin Marathon on strong footing for continued growth.

In the meantime, we are focused on preparing for the 16th annual Austin Marathon scheduled for February 18, 2007, and we will be actively considering all sponsorship opportunities that present themselves. 

We look forward to seeing you in Austin next year!
