Seems I read in trail runner last summer a 16 YO did one, don't know if he was just in the race or was the youngest.

Michael Hayden is the youngest I know of.  Completed his first at 16, an has done over 10 ultra's.  Not sure if he is still the youngest, that was a few years ago.

Im confused.  Please explain.  What makes it official versus non official? 

 

There is also James Bonnett who I met at Leona Divide in 2011.  He is one of the nicest guys around.  He did 50 miles at age 10.

I did one at 20. started marathoning at 16, Ironman at 18, 50 miler at 19, then 100 at 20. I love ultras. :D

official because if a 10 year old just goes and runs 100 miles thats not official and therefore we'd never know. I can't speculate that no one under 16 ever ran 100 miles just not in an event.  and yeah I'm 18 done an ironman and gonna do my first ultra next month

I must have ran too many miles yesterday because I didn't even notice the 100 miles criteria.  Sorry about that.
