I am loving the discussions on my last to musical polls. For the record, I am not musical, I just like what sounds good to me All personal opinion. So now, let's talk ROCK...

Is this apples or oranges? LOL/ Humm. If we are going by the first five albums, Metallica, hands down. Master of Puppet is a perfect album. Just so perfect it is sick. Ride The Lightning is a half step behind and Kill Em All is just a step behind. St. Anger was horrible ( steaming pile of noodles, IMHO). Reload was terrible. Ozzy, well, he is ok. The first two albums with Randy Rhodes were amazing. Diary of A Madman is great as is Blizzard of Oz. His time with Jake E. Lee was good as was his time with Zakk Wylde. I do know on the the Masters of Puppets tour with Ozzy, Metallica blew them off the stage. I am saying this telling you that Metallica is in my top five bands of all time and I am a full on Megadeth fan. I would have to say Metallica, based on their prior work and the comeback, as it were, with Death Magnetic.

Oh that is hard. Humm. Well, although Dave wrote a lot of the stuff off of Kill Em All and Kirk came in and just played the solos ( fact). I would say, Megadeth still trumps Metallica on consistancy. This is my opinion. That is not saying the Master of Puppets trumps So Far So Good So What ( both their third CDs, and MOP does.), I am saying overall body of work. Megadeth is kinda jazzy ( Yeah, I am saying that because of Gar Samuelson, first Megadeth official drummer) metal at times, (listen to Peace Sells) and Metallica is straight on. If you were to compare the first five albums, it is a horse race. Right down the line.

Kill Em All equal to Killing is My Business
Ride the Lightning equal to Peace Sells
Master of Puppets over So Far So Good So What ( too distorted)
And Justice For All is not as good as Rust In Peace
Black Album is equal to Countdown To Extinction

Then you have Megadeth trumping them

Youthanasia over Load
Cryptic Writings over Reload
Risk (over, under or not sure) S&M
The World Needs A Hero way over St Anger

To be fair, Metallica has put out one album in the last years ( Death Magnetic) and Megadeth has put out four....The System Has Failed, United Abominations, Endgame and the latest Thirteen last November.

If you talk consistency then Megadeth. Metallica was great up until the Black album, then they lost their edge. They had great commercial songs on that album, but I didn't care for them after that.

I will say that I have a grudge against Lars Ulrich and can't stand him. One of the few people who I think is a total DB.

Ozzy is just a train wreck that you can't stop watching...

When Lars plays right, he is good. No, he is not Dave Lombardo of Slayer ( but who is...), but when he does it right, he is good. When he gets lazy, oh dear. Train wreck. He gets really sloppy. If you see his early stuff, really right down the line. The newer stuff ( oh God St. Anger), he is like banging on tin cans. Even Death Magnetic, it seems like he is just either lazy or is just not giving a darn.

I reluctantly voted Ozzy. Overall (to me) he's been far more consistent, plus I just love Randy and Zakk. But as mentioned earlier Metallica's early efforts are just awesome (still some of my favorite albums, and I regularly listen to Master/Ride/Kill em on my MP3. But I haven't liked an album of theirs since the black album (1991? 1990?). Not sure what happened, but wow did they get derailed.

I was lucky enough to see Ozzy and Metallica play together as my first concert.

Sort of wierd... I love Ozzy, but he is just a front man. Obviously I love the music he made with Randy and Zack. Still going strong when I saw him with Black Sabbath in Denver at Oz fest. He was pissed we were all dead by the time they came on. He was right, the crowd was boring.

Metalica... sorry, I just never got it. Never was a fan. Sure I like some of their big songs... but ya, they don't really do much for me. Never did. Sorry, shoot me.

I have 2 go w/Ozzy 4 live interviews and Metallica 4 music. Having said that, I have a killer copy from Ozzy in 1971 live from NY that flat out rocks. Any Umphrey's McGee fans out here??????
