Swim
Comments: I'm totally making up this time. Swim + T1 was 10:33 and I was one of the last out of the water. They called it 500 yard but no way. Super fast Art did it in 5:46, but even if he only had 1:30 transition, something don't compute, methinks. Anyway, the swim went fine and slow for me, but no cramping or pains. Transition 1
Comments: Went okay. I had to wipe my feet and put on socks. My toes were and are chewed up from sockless training in the rain. Bike
Comments: Timing by Garmin. They listed the course at 10 miles :-) I went out pretty hard and felt good. Since I was so far back on the swim, passed a bunch of folks. Passing was a littel dicey with car traffic and some rough spots in the road. I got passed by only one guy. Luckily he was young, but I guess a slowpoke swimmer. I kept my sights on him and tried to race him to the finish, but ran out of time and slowed it down to ease into dismount. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Felt pretty good on the run and kept it consistent around 7min's. Had a pretty strong finish and picked a few more off. Post race
Warm down: Waited for results thinking I might actually place but was surprised not to get the call. Then I was really surprised seeing the tatoo on the 1st place 35-39 Y/O. I passed that dude about a minute before the finish! Oh well, it was for a good cause. They did fix it and emailed me to straighten it out. 1st!! Then I rode home. That ride kind of sucked as I was tired, in a sticky race suit, and the sun was blazing. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swwwimmmminggg. Event comments: Official results (to compare to later years) Swim + T1 = 10:33 Bike + T2 = 26:55 Run = 21:19 Total = 58:47 Last updated: 2012-06-10 12:00 AM

I biked to this race since it wasn't on the calendar and I was missing my long bike. 13.5 miles nice and slow. That meant no wetsuit or extra frills. Turns out that I like being a minimalist. This race was very informal and the transition area was a mess. This is the first time I saw a bunch of people had laid out full sized chafing trays to clean their feet. I laghed thinking that I should have brough my 5 gallon camping shower...
Swam about 100yds to see how murky the water was. It wasn't bad. Plus the bike in.
