Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Vegas qualifying.... Every IM 70.3 race has a number of slots available. Most of them will be 30. A few will be more. Every age group gets 1 spot for sure. Additional slots depend on how many are left over and are distributed by the age group's size relative to that of the entire field. So bigger age-groups get more slots. Age group winner gets a slot. If there are say 3 slots, the fastest 3 get the slot. They don't have to take them. If they don't, then they roll-down to the next fastest person in that age-group. The people who earn spots have to elect to take them. Done some time after the race finishes, but before the awards start (they'll say a time). At awards/roll-down, any slots not taken by the fastest will be awarded to the next fastest people who want them. This is the "roll-down" part. |
