Swim
Comments: I worked hard on my swim in the off season. Last years time was 7:43 but it was just my second triathlon ever. I've only been swimming for 2 years so it felt really good to have a swim that clicked. I passed my goal for this race. What would you do differently?: I started 79th in the pool among some slower swimmers. I passed quite a few and didn't get passed so I need to start in the quicker group. Transition 1
Comments: Last years time was 2:16 so I have improved. I wear a Breath Rite strip so it takes a couple of seconds to put it on my nose. I still wear socks but no problem putting them on. I did pass 2 people while running from the pool. What would you do differently?: Practice more at home. It seams like I have to think to much. Bike
Comments: I need to drink more on the bike but it kills my running. I was faster than last years 45:50. I got passed by about 5 or 6 riders and they all had carbon tri bikes. My aluminum Cannondale with no aero bars is no match. What would you do differently?: I have ridden more this year than last but still need to ride more faster rides. The group I ride with will average 15-18 mph. I did reach my goal for this race. Transition 2
Comments: I was racked right next to a light pole so it was easy to find my spot. Last year was 1:17 so a little improvement. What would you do differently?: I need some speed laces. I need to practice leaving my bike shoes on the pedals. Run
Comments: I had bad calf cramps for the first .5 mile then they went away. It had gotten really hot and humid by this time. I had a young lady pass me and I ran her pace until we got to the 2 mile water break. I started feeling refreshed so I took off. At the end she was gaining on me and people were yelling "you can catch him." NO WAY. Dead sprint to the end. Just missed my goal fo 24:00 flat but I'll take it. Last years was 26:12. What would you do differently?: This is the 4th tri of the year and the first time I cramped. More bricks for me. Post race
Warm down: 3 bottle of water, 1 banana, 2 pb sandwiches, 15 cookies. Put all my gear back in the truck. What limited your ability to perform faster: I had some issues with my hips and knees since I ran a 1/2 mary in March. I've not been running as much as I need to but overall I was very happy with the way I ran this race. Event comments: Team Magic rocks!!!! Last updated: 2006-06-27 12:00 AM

I live in Crossville, TN which is about 60 miles from Mcminnville. I woke up about an hour early (3:30am) and felt good so I stayed awake. I ate 2 bagels with honey and 1 bottle of water. I had my vehicle packed so I left home about 4am. I arrived in Mcminnville at 5am which gave me time to drive the bike course and the run course. I got my race pack and racked my bike. I took a Hammer gel at 7am.
I jogged about .25 mile and swam 200 meters.
