Does anyone know if the campsites will be available for the weekend? I usually camp there for this event but it seems ownership is in question for Lake Berryessa and it looks like the online reservation is not available any longer. Wondering if someone has any suggestions for lodging.

Not sure.  I'm going to try to head there in February to ride the course and check out the lodging/camping situation.  It's not far from me.  It will be a nice weekend getaway.

Unfortunately I don't.  I've tried contacting HITS to see who they are partnering with for lodging but they don't have any info yet.  We have 6 people going up and luckily got a VRBO about a mile away from the site.

I'm doing it with a few coworkers and we tried finding a VRBO but couldn't really find anything that fit our price range.  So I'm using rewards points for a free night for me and the wife at the Marriott in Napa.  An hour away, but still closer than the four hours it would be from my house.  Plus it will make a nice weekend getaway - we're leaving the kids with their grandparents.

I took the data from last year's race and put it into Excel and did some analysis.  I don't think it will let me attach the file here, it's probably too big, but I'll try.  The main thing I was looking to do was find finishing times by percentile for overall, men, and women, and same for the overall time and then for the individual events.  As an example, looking at the overall finish time for men and women combined:

PercentileApproximate Finish Time
52:16:25
102:22:17
152:28:08
202:34:00
252:39:51
302:45:43
352:51:34
402:57:26
453:03:17
503:09:09
553:15:01
603:20:52
753:38:27

So basically my analysis shows what finishing times it took to be in the top 5%, 10%, etc. overall and individually in the swim, bike, and run, broken down by males, females, and then all competitors combined.  I don't think I can attach it here so if you are interested shoot me a pm with your email and I'll email it to you.

Ooooh let us know the camping situation. Last year I stayed at the campground that was the start of the race, so no traveling time and easy access to the race!.

Just got back from the weekend trip to Lake Berryessa.  I tried to swim but the water was frigging cold and I just couldn't get my head in the water.  I thought I was going to DIE when I let water into my wetsuit!  Some fisherman said the water temps were between 51 and 54 right around the boat ramp at Chaparral Cove.

I rode the Oly course on my road bike.  It was a fun ride!  There isn't any little bit of flat ground but the hills are not very bad or long.  I'm six weeks out from a metatarsal stress fracture, too.  I just remained in the saddle and spun up each hill without much trouble.

The camping situation looks a little spotty.  There is no camping at the race site.  There are some places to camp a little further south.  The Bureau of Reclamation has taken over management of several of the camping and day use sites.

Most motels are about 45 minutes to an hour away.  There are quite a few motels, so you shouldn't have a problem finding one.  We are going to stay at the casino in Middletown.  The drive is about 45 minutes to the race site.

One of my friends who is doing this tri with me this weekend was in the lake last weekend and said the water was warm for this time in the season.  Of course that only means it was like upper 50's, but still.  Better than lower 50's.  It's been nice up there all week this week too so that's good.
