Thought of putting this in the Boston thread, but it deserves some extra love.

These Marines from the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment and Semper Fi Fund were sent to Boston to provide counseling and encouragement to the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing. They have a lot in common in that a) they were victims of traumatic explosive injuries, b) they had to deal with PTSD, and c) they wanted to get on with life and stay active. Many run marathons and triathlons.

Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)(3) and one of the top rated veteran charities out there. They provide financial assistance to families when they are dealing with a traumatic injury or serious illness. They also provide support for things like house and vehicle modifications, and specialized equipment (like legs for running, hand cycles, or guitars).

They recently (prior to the Boston Bombing) established a fund called "America's Fund" to provide similar support for civilian victims of traumatic injuries.

I'm raising money for them on a rolling basis but I don't post this to get donations. If you want giving info, PM me and I'll send my link. Just wanted you guys to see this awesome video and to know this awesome fund is out there doing great work.

Semper Fidelis!

Living on a town that border Camp Pendleton, my kids are used to seeing more amputees in a year than most people see in a lifetime.

Sobering reality, but it is also nice that my children get to see Challenged Athletes swim/bike/run and just living life.

I have some brother Marines who hated to run when they were on active duty but who love to run with their amputations because now it's a challenge and they want to prove they can't be beat.

That's what the kid means by "It's actually liberating."
