Swim
Comments: I came out a bit hard on the swim and got a tired. Passed the 2 guys in front of me and got passed by the guy behind me. My swimming has improved by my technique went to hell when I started tiring. If I had relaxed, I think I would have rocked it. I breathed bilaterally the whole time and enjoyed the encouragement from my lovely wife! What would you do differently?: Go out a bit easier. Transition 1
Comments: I didn't rip through the transition as I had hoped, screwing around with the socks, putting on my Garmin 301. I was a bit tired too. My HR read 171 in transition, not good! What would you do differently?: Go sockless, practice barefoot transitions and running and jumping on the bike. Bike
Comments: My bike computer had me going faster, but the bottom line is transitions are all included, so I guess that's where that extra 1.5 kph went. I had a good ride overall. I felt pretty good, it took me awhile to really get going, but when I did it was pretty great. I was doing a back and forth with some guy on the course, but he must have really backed off in the last fifth of the race, because it took him more than a km to pass me on the run, and he was pretty quick. I think I would have done better had the bike course been longer. What would you do differently?: More biking. Transition 2
Comments: I wasn't as great as I hoped I'd be. I watched the elites do their transitions and was amazed. It was okay, but I wasted about 15 -20 seconds doing stupid crap like pouring water on my head. What would you do differently?: Put my frikken shoes on and get the hell outta dodge! Run
Comments: I don't know what it is, but I seem to be significantly slower than last year, but I felt faster. Given that my average HR was 179 for the run and my max ever recorded is 185, I don't think I could have given anymore. I pushed as hard as I could for the second half and passed a few sufferers, but overall was passed by fewer people than last year. What would you do differently?: I don't know. I gave it my all. This was by far the most difficult run I've ever had. Post race
Warm down: Walked around feeling totally bagged. What limited your ability to perform faster: No idea. I guess I'm faster than last year, but not as fast as I'd hoped. I beat my time from last year for the same race by 2:38 which is an ok improvement, but I pushed much harder too. Last updated: 2006-04-27 12:00 AM

Slept like a baby. I haven't slept like that since.... since I was a baby. I was totally relaxed. Got up, ate peanut butter and nutella toasts. Drank more water.
I had my HR monitor on and just standing there watching other racers had my HR at 105!
Not much. Didn't urinate on myself. Jumped around, swam about 10 minutes 20 minutes before the start.
