This was a really good race! It was really cold outside (Mid 20s but probably in the 10s with the windchill!) but after the warm-up I felt a bit better. According to the Garmin I ran a 12:38 out and a 12:07 back giving me a nice negative split, but of course the outbound course includes the hill up and back around the hill down. In addition it was headwind for most part out and tailwind back. I think I paced it perfectly! The 5:03 for the second km which includes the hill really surprised me as I took it quite easy up as not to kill my legs. After the turnaround I just ran and focused on nothing else than getting over that finish line in sub 25! I never had any doubt that I could not do it but I sure did not think that I could get that far below the 25min mark! Thats a 50 second PB for the 5K and the last PB I just set 3 weeks ago! I really wonder what I could run on a flat course! HR was also not extremely high but I think the cold played a big role in that. Never had any hip problems at all during the race :) I hope it stays like that!!

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?
