Subject: Juice on !
Hi There
I have decided to take a different approach to my knee/ joint issues which forced me out of my 1st iornman entry and training in early 2013 !

I was told by my doctor dont even think about a Ironman, my sports doctor said it would be possible but the run wouldnt be much fun due to worn out knees etc - they said they cant do anything for me as i am too young for a knee replacement and i would have to just live with it

I dont like bieng told i cant do something or being told i have to just live with it !

So my research went on- to nutrition and diet stumbling accross the movie fat sick and nearly dead which lead my to forks over knives movie etc and a plant strong diet and the benift it brings and the results people have shared super inspired me

Anyway long story short since aug 1st i have pretty much cut out all processed food/ alcohol / caffeine etc and drank for the last 9 days just juice (with the odd light meal) since then i have dropped 8 pounds and never felt better - i went for a 7k run the other day and afterwards my knee felt a little sore BUT nothing like it used to, and the next day i was fine , been hammering it at the gym on the bike with no issues and my swimming has been awesome - i wake super early and never had so much energy !

I finish my 10 day juice on this weekend and will then move onto a plant strong diet (as much as poss) because it has given me renewed hope that i can rebuild my knackered body and compete in a Ironman !

I watched the documentary last year and was excited about trying a juice diet. I spent hours researching various approaches. Then came the actual juicer research. Some said this juicer was needed if you were using these veggies while you should use that juicer with those veggies. Some were using both juicers. Got frustrated and never followed through. Would still like to try it some day. Good luck with yours.

I tried it. juiced for 2.5 days. Lost 6 lbs. switching to just salads with some grilled chicken for the next 13 days and dropped a lbs a day. I went from 315 to 295.

Only issue is then I went to the hospital for 3 days and could not eat veggies for a month. Stupid gallbladder. I will admit it probably needed to be removed anyways but as far as I can tell its the only real risk. I been thinking about trying it again.

After a hard workout, I really like having a Coke or Pepsi. How bad is this for recovery and for my health? Should I stop drinking orange juice because it is loaded with (fattening) carbs and sugar?
