Age Group Rank = 7/18
Swim
  • 37m 7s
  • 1580 yards
  • 02m 21s / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

Got stuck behind a bottleneck of people leaving T1, came to a standstill trying to get out to the mount line because there were so many people.
Bike
  • 1h 03m 53s
  • 24 miles
  • 22.54 mile/hr
Comments:

I took a corner too tight trying to slingshot around with speed, ended up hitting the curb and coming off my bike onto the grass. That killed all of my momentum and shook me up for the second loop of the course.
What would you do differently?:

Not hit the curb
Transition 2
  • 00m 47s
Run
  • 47m 7s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 43s  min/km
Comments:

Still shaken up a bit from the bike crash after the first mile or so. Fought through some side stitches and just went along at a comfortable pace. Very disappointed in my run performance, was hoping for a time closer to 42:xx's.
What would you do differently?:

Probably needed to take in some more water on the bike, and something for nutrition.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched on the field by my rack, found something to eat and went home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

spotty training over the spring

Event comments:

Post race activities were kind of a let down. It took a long time to find anything edible that wasn't an energy drink. Everything seemed so confined and crammed together that it was hard to move around.

In addition to writing your race number on each upper arm, they also wrote your age on your calf. This allowed me to see who was passing me by in the bike section of this race.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.

The Boulder Peak bike course is legendary. It is, literally and named as such, one of the toughest bike legs in the country.
