Swim
Comments: I started on left side of group in back figuring I will have a easier time getting in front of everyone. Horn sounded and everyone started running, we kept running because the water never got very deep. I dove in and tried to swim but my hands kept touching the bottom. So I kept running. We run out of the sand and hit the rocky area where the zebra mussels were attached to the rocks. They are very sharp critters and my feet are a little chewed up. About 50 yards from the bouy it gets deep enough to swim and I pass a few people. we make the turn around the bouy swim 50 yards in and then have to start running again. My legs are crushed at this time. The people that I pass pass me back once we stop running. What would you do differently?: Where running shoes, practice running in water since I plan on doing the musselman next year. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time.Drank some water and kissed my wife. What would you do differently?: For now nothing, once I am more competetive have more of a sense of urgency Bike
Comments: This is what is killing me folks. I figured that the bike would be my strong point but it is actually weaker than my run. It is not that my legs aren't strong enough but that I am too heavy. I need to lose the weight more. I have gotten lazy and off my diet and put on some of the pounds that I lost. Now that I have set my goal on the Marathon in January. I really need to get more strict with the diet. What would you do differently?: Spend more time on the bike and lose some freaking weight quickly. Transition 2
Comments: Ate bananna drank water Run
Comments: For the first two miles my back was killing me. I could not get comfortable and I did a lot of walking. Ran with a girl who was doing her first triathon for a few minutes but walked some more. Very dissappointed in my run performance because I have worked on this area a lot a but my back was in too much pain. What would you do differently?: Here is a tip. Check your bike seat. When I pulled my bike off the rack it must have turned a little and was not aligned so that might have led to my back pain Post race
Warm down: Walked stretched and got a massage What limited your ability to perform faster: My weight. Possisbly my seat. Event comments: This was a first year race but very organized. The only bad part was the swim being too shallow and that is a little Ironic because the lake is 600 feet deep in some spots. The pre race activities were great, the post race was great. I would fully recommend this race to everyone. Especially if you are doing an IM next year. The Musselman Course(1/2 Im) would make a excellent training race. Last updated: 2004-07-13 12:00 AM
