Swim
Comments: A little more crowded pool swim this time, probably because the pool was a more standard 25m length, so it got a little bit crazy out there! Still not as bad as I'd expected; I actually had to slow down due to the jumble in front of me and to the sides, proving there really are slower swimmers than me. Very good swim time for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing at all, very pleased here. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty reasonable here. Tried to put on arm coolers but applying one over wet skin just wasn't going to work, so I gave up. Might've lost 5-10 seconds there. Also had to mess with Garmin because it didn't, for some reason, record my swim. Had to take the unit out of Tri mode and into bike mode; did most of this jogging to my spot, but might've cost another 10 seconds or so. What would you do differently?: Not worry about arm coolers and get Garmin unit set up properly. Bike
Comments: Good ride, felt like a nice effort. Actually expected a better avg mph because I felt so good on the bike. Guess the wind and hills, which weren't steep but were longish, had more of an impact than I thought, even though I handled them well enough. NP was 166, so that's a pretty reasonable effort level. What would you do differently?: Not much, felt like I handled the ride well and had a good effort. Transition 2
Comments: My official time doesn't reflect anything for T2, and a much longer time than I know I took on the run, so the run time they've got includes my T2. Backed into this based on my guess at my run time. What would you do differently?: Not much, moved pretty good. Run
Comments: Pretty reasonable run overall, maintained a good pace throughout, happy with it. Not completely certain about time because I apparently didn't get a good press of the stop button after finishing. And my official time has nothing for T2...chip malfunction I guess. But I have a vague recollection of seeing a 30 and something in the 20s, so 30:27 is a good guesstimate. What would you do differently?: Maybe push a little harder at the very end, but I'm pleased with this result at this point in my training. Post race
Warm down: Got my medal, downed a bottle each of water and Muscle Milk, took a shower and packed up. What limited your ability to perform faster: Maybe some hill training and being a little concerned about pushing harder on the run in the last few minutes...I just didn't want to run out of gas. Might try to push harder next time. Event comments: Another nice event up on by Dallas Athletes Racing. They really do an excellent job. Last updated: 2017-03-20 12:00 AM

Same as last time: up about 4:30, two small slices of cinnamon toast and a DDP. Had TSW body mark me before we left to save some time. Got to the race site and got set up, good to go. Made sure I knew where my rack was in relation to the run into transition from the pool, and where Bike Out was.
They herded us all into a gym until they were ready for us in the pool; just hung out and relaxed.
