                    ![]() Swim
Comments: Swim was long, 2500+ from everyone I talked too, I had 2520 on my watch. I opted to not wear a wetsuit with the high water temps, glad I did from a potential overheating aspect, lost a lot of speed. What would you do differently?: Maybe wear a sleeveless wetsuit? ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Long uphill run to bike, clean transition took a little more time but really wasn't too bad getting stuff in and out of bag. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Bike
Comments: A bit tougher than expected but mostly due to the high winds. I lost a lot of speed in the last stretch riding over the bricks near the stockyards, they were brutal! What would you do differently?: Push a little harder on a couple of the uphill sections and when riding into the wind. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Fairly easy transition with a short run to hand off bike to volunteers and a short run indoors to a "changing" room where gear bags were easy to find. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Run
Comments: Started out really good then it got hot, for me. I couldn't pour enough water and ice on me and was continuously battling the heat. I walked through most any shady spot I could find and stopped at an aid station under a bridge for a couple of minutes to try and cool off. What would you do differently?: Run with AC? Try and get more acclimated, which is tough to do when you leave 50-60 degree temps for 80+ degrees. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little, skipped the post race pb&j, chips and orange for a couple bottles of water, an egg/bacon sandwich and coffee at Starbucks. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat during the run. Event comments: Overall quite a good race, I would recommend it to anyone interested in doing a half or full but not wanting to do a branded race. I hope they can keep it going as it was a really good first effort! Last updated: 2017-05-23 12:00 AM

Team Crenshaw/Team Blaze (Spokane, WA)
80F / 27C
Overcast
Overall Rank = 50/337
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 9/43
Up early for breakfast, oatmeal, banana and coffee followed by an all natural ginger brew (helps my stomach) and about 32 oz of water/electrolytes
Just loosened up on shore, standing in the pouring rain was colder than the lake temp.
