Swim
Comments: Swim went well. With my limited swimming this year, I wasn't trying to push it, just keep it steady and keep something in the tank for hte rest of the day What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: went fine. 1 second slower than the fastest transition in the AG What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Again, didn't try and kill it, but kept it comfortably hard the whole way. Felt good at the end, too. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: went fine. Unfortunately, went with the new shoes which I had worn a couple of times, but put new elastic laces in them last night. They were too tight What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: Miserable. THe sun came out and it was low 90s and humid. No shade after the first 400m. Flet OK for the first mile, even thru the first 2 miles, but then it hit. Struggled thru the last 4 miles, run/walking a lot. At mile 5, my left calf was starting to cramp whenever I tried to push off and pick up the pace, so I'd have to walk a bit til it calmed down. I knew I was slow, but was hoping for 48 min, as opposed to 55min. Seeing that I was 2nd in the AG, everyone else was obviously feeling the pain, too. What would you do differently?: not have new laces so t ight Post race
Warm down: hobbled to get my stuff, a beer, and drive home What limited your ability to perform faster: heat Event comments: This race is fine. Not great, but not bad. Packet pickup was very slow this morning with minimal people staffing the registration and pick up tables. Race started ~10 min late. None of us could figure out why the Sprint race started before the Oly. It's always hotter than hell, but it's July in TN and they can't help that. The bike course is nice in that it is a big road that is closed to traffic, but the pavement isn't great. The run course is very boring, no shade whatsoever. The venue with Transition by the stadium is nice, though, but it would be better if we could actually park at the stadium and not have to cross the street to park. Last updated: 2017-07-18 12:00 AM
