Paul Ryan

He's been under fire from day one. I don't think he really possesses the leadership skills to bring the Gang of P*****s under control and into one tent. Getting a guy like Trump in the WH made that task even tougher. Now if we could just get Mitch the Btich to retire.

And the RINO McCain!

Don't get me started on Johnnie. If I could have 2008 back, I'd have voted for obama.

The man is 81 years old and has brain cancer and still he continues to work. I will never understand this. He obviously holds himself in too high regard and epitomizes the arrogance of power.

I have never heard of anyone on their deathbed say, "I wish I had spent more time at the office and less time with my family." Or, "I wish I had not retired and just kept working to I died sitting at my desk at work"

Years ago someone floated around at work an Excel graph showing a series of curves showing life expectancy vs retirement age. The data suggested that the earlier you retire the longer you would live, that is, a longer life expectancy. e.g. If you retire at 55 you will live to be 80. But if you retire at 70 you will die at 72. So there was a premium of 8 years for early retirement....or a penalty of 8 years life expectancy if you worked till 72. The chart was affectionately called "The Boeing Death Curves". Problem was, it was a fake. There was no such data....it was totally made up.

BUT.....the principle sounds valid to me. If you retire and are out in the sunshine chasing a little white ball around you are getting more exercise than the guy sitting in a board meeting banging his fist on the table. Much less stress waiting for a big large mouth bass to take your bait than there is into baiting you coworker to open their big mouth and say something stupid.

I have just one obstacle to figure out before I retire......I have to find something to do. Years ago I read an article that said if you have many interests you will do fine retiring early. But if your one 'extracurricular' activity is golf, you will be bored. I figure I like to hike, bike, swim, fish, do woodworking, garden, snow ski, scuba dive, etc. but I still think I need some sort of job...maybe not. I have an 83 yo uncle who retired at age 50 and has never worked another day in his life! The man is my hero!!

Just heard that he said he didn't want to be a "weekend dad". Good for him!

RCP shows his seat as a dark red meaning he would win hands down....likely would not even be opposed. If your congressman is Speaker of the House and 3rd in line to the presidency you don't vote against him!

Maybe he thinks the left will take the house and he will lose his speakership.....or maybe, heaven forbid, he honestly wants to spend more time with his family while his kids are young.

When my kids were young and I would have to got to Kwajalein for a month I hated being away from my kids. Never knew if I was going to miss a little league game. And hated missing dinner every night with the family sitting around the kitchen table telling stories. After my kids were grown, I didn't mind traveling nearly as much. There will be plenty of time to travel and be away from home after the kids are grown.

Yeah, everything i read indicates the guy is sick of doing a hard and largely thankless job. I wish him luck.

Some speculation that Ryan may be eyeing running for POTUS in 2024....or even 2020.

Personally I think he is just tired of the backstabbing chithole DC has become and misses being with his family.
