Intended to run first 5 at 8:30 pace, the second 5 at 8:00, and the last 3 flat out. Did that to regulate HR and keep it below threshold until the end. Meant to go 135 HR for the first 5 and 145-50 HR for the next 5. Instead went out at 8:15 with HR closer to 145 for the first 5 and sub 8:00 with HR 155 for the second 5. Maintained pace and had bit left in the tank for a push from miles 10 thru 11.5. Was gassed for the last 1.5 miles, though, and just had to gut it out. Overall a decent strategy.

Festive race in a beautiful community. The run out is on a beautiful oak-lined drive for the first 4 miles. Really enjoyable. Great post-race activities with free food, beer, and live music. Awesome free race photos for all runners!
