I have long advised my kids that anything they put into digital form (ones and zeros) is virtually indestructible and can eventually come back and bite you.

In mid-2016, the ODNI issued a new Directive (SEAD 5), that allows U.S. government investigators to analyze information posted publically on social media sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter (to name a few) and use it to assist them in deciding whether or not to issue an initial security clearance.
