Looks like I'm a bit ahead of you......I've pulled 12-15 10 inchers off already.....and probably 75-80 more starting or blooming....3 plants. Pulled the first 3 tomatoes yesterday. Last weekend I took 20 jalepenos off for poppers.

I'll tell you what......life just sucks. I blame Trump.

I had to replant my tomatoes after a late frost but have gotten one tomato out so far. And one crookneck squash. Blueberries are coming in good now. My wife picks a bowl or so now everyday and will do so the two months or so. Harvested some garlic recently. I used to plant a huge garden but am too lazy now.

I don't have a big garden.....but I've got strawberries,radishes, carrots, 3 tomato varieties, jalapeno, zucchini,and cucumbers.....then some basil, thyme, rosemary, and cilantro. I get enough for us to enjoy all summer and still give quite a bit away. If it wasn't for Trump ruining everything I guess I'd have a bigger garden.

Love the pool. We have mint and asperagus and strawberries beds also.

LB, PM me your address in the fall and I will send you some blueberry roots and garlic. Plant and forget and harvest next year and every year after that. Maybe put some aluminum sulfate and pine needles on the BBs as the are an acid loving plant.

Sigh, no garden the year. Animals, bees and projects keeping me inundated. Next year (probably) the pool and lazy river go in. Maybe we'll incorporate a garden in the pool landscaping too.

That was nothing I planned. That space used to be filled with hostas, lillys, etc.....but it was a giant pain in the arse to keep the weeds out. A few years ago I moved the vegetable garden there, put down a weed barrier, and cut my work in half. As a bonus, the vegetable garden does really well there and is always a source of conversation when we have people over.

I'm thinking of ripping out the landscape in front of my house and planting vegetables too.......it's just easier, and you can eat it. I might not be able to though.....I have a lot of shade there because of Trump and his immigration policies.

Our biggest issue will be keeping deer out. We have to landscape with deer resistant plants here in south Tejas or put up a 6-8 foot game fence. I'm not sure we want a fence that tall there, obstructing the western view from poolside. After consideration, most likely won't be able to put a garden there at all. Good news is we have 9.5 acres to choose from for a garden plot.

I really miss having fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, cukes and herbs in the backyard. Nothing better in this world than eating garden fresh pico de gallo and chips while grilling some cattle.

There's no answer to that. It all depends on hive size, nectar flows and a hundred other variables. The frame I'm holding in the pic would hold around 8 pounds of honey if it were completely capped on both sides. The ones you harvest from are a little smaller and would weigh around 6 pounds. Somewhere between 30-60 pounds per hive is the number Ive heard the most.

So 30-60 lbs. over the life of the hive? What makes a hive stop producing? Or does it?

I remember my wife eating tons of local honey after she moved here from California. She was absolutely plagued during allergy season here in Missouri.......2 years of eating local honey, on everything she could, basically cured her. Pretty cool.
