And so sports fans the NFL preseason is underway and the 'protest' are still going on. My thoughts:

1. NFL players are entertainers. They are paid huge salaries to entertain people. Rule number one in entertainment is "know your audience". The vast majority of American are offended when the see the National Anthem and US Flag disrespected.

2. I'm not really sure I understand what they are 'protesting'. Are they saying they hate America or they think America is racist? Do they think by disrespecting the National Anthem and the US Flag is going to win them 'support'?

3. NFL viewership is down 20%. If I cost my boss a 20% decrease in revenue I'd be fired!

4. If I 'protested' at work, I'd be fired!

5. The kneeling players think they have a 'first amendment right' to protest. I agree, protest all you want, but not at work. See #4.

6. The ONLY thing the protest has manage to change is a 20% decrease in viewership. I've written this many times here, protests change NOTHING! You can rant and rave and carry signs and yell, "hey hey, ho, ho ________" (fill in the blank) and it changes nothing. You can stage sit-in and lay-down in traffic and it won't accomplish anything. The only way to affect change in this country is thru our elected officials and ballot measure. Instead of 'protesting' use your time and money to help people sympathetic to your cause get elected!

7. If their argument is they have "a right" to protest then I have a right to not watch NFL games!

8. I never did watch much NFL football except for an occasional game....but no more. I'm part of the 20% now.

9. NCAA football is more exciting....for me anyway since my son goes to school at Alabama and since Alabama under Nick Saban has a 127 / 20 win / loss record.

10. The whole protest was a ready-fire-aim exercise. They shot themselves in the foot, reloaded....and shot the other foot. Pappy always said, "Michael", Pappy always called me Michael, not Mike, "If you are not in bed by 11.....just come on home." Wait, wrote quote. He said, "If you find yourself in a hole, get out of it!"

Well, these are not very smart people we are talking about.  Add the constant head injuries and you pretty much have people who can't think past what they see on twitter.

    I care....which is why I don't watch.

But really, 3 hours sitting on a couch in front a TV eating junk food watching other people play football is not my idea of living large. One game a week is it for me. Roll Tide!

Oh, and sometimes I will just record the Alabama game and watch it the next day. This allows me to fast forward the commercials and half time. Cuts viewing time down to 1.5 hrs or so instead of 3.

"Hillary Clinton offered another endorsement on Wednesday -- to an 11-year-old student who made headlines for kneeling during the Pledge of Allegiance.

Clinton tweeted in response to a NowThis report on Mariana Taylor, a Maryland sixth-grader who refused to stand for her classroom’s recitation of the pledge, instead adopting the form of protest used by NFL players.

“It takes courage to exercise your right to protest injustice, especially when you’re 11! Keep up the good work Mariana,” Clinton tweeted."

She still has no clue why she lost the election.

In the meantime, my hometown baseball team, the St.Louis Cardinals, hold a game called "this one's for you".  It's a game dedicated to the men and women of our armed forces and their families.  It's a tremendous tribute.....and there's no damn kneeling by anyone.

We don't kneel for our flag in this country, we stand.....get it right.
