Swim
Comments: Didn't do any swim workouts in the 3-4 weeks leading up to the race. Didn't figure it would make a difference and - no surprise - it didn't. What would you do differently?: Try to make the turns a little faster. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: OK T1. Bike
Comments: Rough road that, combined with the wind and more hills than I expected, made getting up to speed - made the whole ride, actually - very tough. I was shocked at my pace: under 15mph!!! I mean, that's like a slow training ride... What would you do differently?: Gotta think about this because I'm honestly not sure. Slow as I was, the matches I burned here really cost me on the run. I think that would've been the case regardless, so this is probably best I can expect. Transition 2
Comments: Sat down and pulled on socks here since I'd not run without socks in months. What would you do differently?: Normal transition save for the socks. Run
Comments: Terrible run, but expected. I'd hoped to do a little bit better than this but I knew after getting off a tougher than expected bike leg that it would not be good. Pretty good amount of walking, though I jogged and ran OK. Chest issues rose up, as I feared. Gotta figure out what's up with that...could spell the end of my tri career. What would you do differently?: Nothing at this point. Gotta get this chest issue behind me. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, ducked down a bottle of water, sat for a bit in the shade to cool off and let the HR slow down. Did have some light-headedness up to 15-20 minutes after, as though blood pressure had dropped precipitously. What limited your ability to perform faster: Tough bike course and expected poor run.
