![]() Swim
Comments: 87 of 245 age group 719 of 1949 male 855 of 2411 overall What would you do differently?: I think I drafted pretty well, and that may be the main reason for a pretty good swim split. My watch reports distance of only 1760 yds, for a pace of 1:51/100yds. So the course may have been a bit short. Regardless, my placing for the swim was FAR above my placing for the bike or run. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good overall ![]() Bike
Comments: I did a pretty good job of fueling, I think. Consumed: - 3 servings of HammerGel (thought it was more) - 4 servings of Clif Bloks - 2 servings of Perpetuem Did have some lower back issues, but not too bad. This time it was the left side. I could feel my quads a 'decent bit' during the 2nd half of the ride. Given the fairly poor run, I wonder if I pushed too hard on the bike. However, power meter only said that I averaged 148W, which really doesn't seem right at all. I was watching HR during the bike (mostly during the 2nd half flat sections), and I was keeping it around low-mid 140's, so I thought that was OK. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Took feet out of shoes too early, but I knew I had a long way to run (rack was at the far end of transition), so didn't want to risk having to run that in bike shoes. If I had better known the details of the end of the bike course, I could have taken feet out of shoes later. What would you do differently?: Not much. Overall it was pretty smooth. ![]() Run
Comments: 173 of 245 age group 1322 of 1949 male 1507 of 2411 overall - Consumed a lot of salt. Roughly 7 serving equivalents, I think, of the Hammer salt. 5-6 of mine and 1-2 from the course. - Consumed ~2 servings of Hammergel - Consumed ~1 Maurten gel - Consumed coke on last ~3-4 miles of the run Could feel my left lower back during the run, which is abnormal. Probably need to strengthen those muscles and/or work on form/positioning. What would you do differently?: I think my run fitness is not adequate. I limited my pace to keep HR below 180 bpm. As with other recent races, I was passed substantially during the run. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Not much. Got some water and food. Event comments: It was generally a well run race. They could have had more volunteers on the bike course to point out key turns or other road issues. Also, there was some serious drafting going on. I mean 20-50 person pelotons. Those people need to be penalized Last updated: 2025-10-18 12:00 AM

Coffee and bread+butter 2 hours before start. Sip on gatorade after that, and had most of a Hammer Bar roughly an hour before start.
None. Stretched the arms a bit.
