Subject: HELP - new silver member needing help with training plans!
Hi there! Being new to the site and in my quest for doing an Olympic distance triathlon this summer, I downloaded the 20 week Olympic - 3X balanced plan (and also the 2X one), but realized after reviewing it, that it didnt provide the additional details that I noticed in the other plans - it only listed the general number of minutes to perform each sport. I then realized it must have something to due with the fact that it was available to bronze-members as well, who dont get the same level of detail as the other levels. Since this plan seemed to fit my needs perfectly - have about 20 weeks until my race, come from a competitive swimming background, run and bike regularly, completed a sprint race last year, etc- I was wondering if you would be able to suggest another plan that would be good and which provided an additional level or detail. I reviewed the other Olympic plans and nothing else seems to be like the 3X balanced one. For example, the Basic Olympic 12 week plan seemed to be too compressed of a schedule, the Intermediate Olympic plan seemed to be too much mileage, etc. Any suggestions?? THANK YOU!!

Look at the 4-7 and especially the 7-10 hour 20 week 'Winter Maintenance' plans (in their own category).

Using the last 8 weeks of that followed by the 12 week Oly plan (or using the last 12 weeks followed by the 8 week oly plan) could be what you need.

*There is also that 21 week Oly plan if you haven't seen it.

Can you give us some idea of where you stand fitness wise and what you are currently doing for each sport?

Thanks for the quick turnaround on advice! Ill check out the plans that you have suggested Ron - thanks!

As for my current fitness level, I am in good shape. Of the three sports, I am the strongest in swimming, followed by running, then biking. Since I have not started training for a specific race, I have just been trying to keep up my fitness level and have been consistently running every other day 3.5-4 miles each, swimming a few times a week for around 1 hour each, and biking about once a week for about an hour as well (havent done too much biking since I happen to live in Pittsburgh where its been in the negative digits lately )
