Run
Comments: This 10-year-old race is a scholarship fund raiser for our high school. The race is named after Carl Schillig, a cross-country runner who was killed by a hit-and-run driver. My first mile was a 6:32 split, mostly downhill to flat. Some long and steep hills later in the race brought my time in a bit. There were actually about 1,100 participants, but 0nly 314 in the 5 mile race. Also had a 5k (my wife took first in her age group there) and a fun run and a walk and an in-line skating category too. Post race
Warm down: Water, 2 bananas What limited your ability to perform faster: My training schedule shifted about 3 weeks ago from performance to maintenance, so I'm not at a peak any longer. Have added about 7 pounds and I'm only running about 10-15 miles per week. Event comments: I had a gret time and actually thought I was leading my age group because I don't know the two guys who finished ahead of me. Missed 1st in age group by 48 seconds and 2nd place by 8 seconds. Oh well ... there's always next year. Last updated: 2004-09-07 12:00 AM
