Swim
Comments: Swim went great. Transition 1
Comments: Okay for my first race in 7 years. Bike
Comments: The hills combined with my gearing just killed my legs. What would you do differently?: More time in the saddle, different gearing, and much more hill training. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Legs were pretty well spent after the bike leg. Left leg was cramping during the first 3 miles . . . . ouch. What would you do differently?: Smarter training. Post race
Event comments: The course was fantastic, calm lake, mountain roads, part trail part road run course. Unfortunately the climbs were more than I was ready for . . . . .either I need stronger legs or lower gearing for climbing. I've spent a lot of time in the water which showed in my swim leg, but it seems it was at the expense of time in the saddle. Last updated: 2004-09-26 12:00 AM

I try to get down some oatmeal with applesauce and of course a cup of coffee. I usually don't have much of an appetite before a race so I'm lucky if I get down half of my breakfast. Other than that, I just suit up and go.
