Comments: No problem What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: This was my first transition ever. I really luxuriated in the transition area, going so far as to eat my gel before getting on the bike, and really just taking it easy. No one told me differently! What would you do differently?: Go faster. Eat my gel on the bike. Bike
Comments: This was a very tentative ride over wet ground, with lots of hills and frequent turns. What would you do differently?: Not too much. I didn't want to push it and wipe out. Transition 2
Comments: A *little* faster this time. What would you do differently?: Have gels in my tri suit all ready to go before I have to go digging around in my bag to find it. Run
Comments: Just a little slower, but not bad. What would you do differently?: Pushed myself a little harder. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Wet pavement and storm conditions. Last updated: 2004-09-06 12:00 AM

This *was* supposed to be my first official triathlon, but fierce thunder and lightning, accompanied by blinding sheets of rain turned it into a duathlon about 30 minutes before the start. Myself and some Team In Training teammates who made the journey up to CT thought the whole thing would be cancelled. We finally started about 15 minutes late in light rain. I was disappointed that the swim was cancelled --> new race: 5K run, 12 mile bike, 5K run
Bagel + cream cheese along with a medium Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Too much coffee...much more than I normally have before a race. No need to do a warm-up swim. :-/
