Good morning all,

Like I said, the name of the thread isn't very clever, but I guess it will do for this week at least.

I was trying to remember how long we've been posting in this forum, and I think it's been at least a couple of months.

I feel priveleged to have met all of you and you have become an important part of my life.  I love the way we support and encourage each other!

I always look forward to seeing what's happening, and I love having a place to post that I know people understand exactly where I'm coming from with regard to struggles with weight loss (and as it turns out other things as well Smile)

Kelly, Casey, and Sharon - we're glad to have you back posting with us, you have been missed!

Travelers - good luck with the challenges, hopefully we will all find a little time to check in and say hi and to get a boost of support if we need it!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Thanks to all of you for being you! (corny, yes I know - lol)

I like the new thread name as well, Beth! I definitely love coming here and finding out what's going on with everyone, too. It's nice to have a little place to call "home".

I had an excellent WI this morning. I maintained! I seem to always gain after a large loss (last week 4+) so I was thrilled when I got on the scale this morning.

I thought about several of you while at the meeting since we discussed eating out.

I'm going tattoo shopping this afternoone with Husband. Then the rest of the day is filled with climbing mount washmore. Wonder how many APs that's worth

Those of you traveling this week....be safe

WTG on your M, Terri! How'd the tat shopping go?

I'm back from my run. I did 10 (:30 run/2:30 walk) intervals plus some additional walking, "bumping" my mileage another 2.7 miles. That's 9 miles this week. Go me!!

I have my WW meeting tomorrow. I'm also pretty much expecting a maintain, or even possibly a slight gain. Like Terri, that's generally my M.O. the week following a nice loss. I peeked on the home scale this morning and it's looks like my M.O. is holding true.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! I'm off to relax a bit and then do some housework.

I like the name of the new thread, Beth!

Terri - that is HUGE to be able to maintain after having a week with a big loss.  Good job, Melissa, as well.  I hope that tomorrow is a big success.

And, Terri, is the tat for you or your DH?  About 10 years ago I got a tat on my solar plexus, of my "goddess".  I am looking forward to reaching my goal BMI, and occasionally wear something to show her off...  I had decided that if I was going to get a tattoo, it would be somewhere that *I* could enjoy, and also somewhere that would not be on display... unless, of course, I want it to be on display - LOL.  Never thought I would get one, but this one just mesmerized me.  Thought about it constantly for a week, so I went back to endure the pain.

Traveling is going well in Milwaukee.  I used the fitness center and pool today (two separate trips) and they are going to work just fine for the trip.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

- Sharon

A big 6 miles for me today! Longest run since before my last baby (whose nearly 5!). My legs felt tired but overall not a bad run for me. My heel is hanging in there... the new shoes seem to help.

My weight on MY scale is up a little which I"m bummed about, but we'll see what Tuesday brings. I'm going to drink a ton of water and really be careful for the next couple of days. I've been doing CORE so I haven't been tracking quantities but the quality has been excellent. I had sushi last night with soy sauce and I think I may be retaining water due to the sodium... hope that's all it is, anyway.

LOVE the new name, Beth. I may not keep going to meetings anyway once these 4 are used up... haven't decided yet.

I'll check in with you all on Tuesday and let you know what the official WI says!

And, Terri, is the tat for you or your DH?

The tat was for DH. He ended up getting a hieroglyphic surfer guy on the outside of his ankle. It'd kind of cool looking. I think he's a closet ink junkie though because he's going back next week to barb wire his bicep and they're going to start drawing up the design for his back. It's a sun design that will cover the area between his shoulder blades with a dragon in the middle that goes all the way down his spine with the tail disappearing into his, well, you know

I have my first picked out but I'm waiting to meet my 10% goal before I get it.

Woo hoo! Another person brought over to the dark side of ink. They are definitely addictive! I have 3 already and have a couple more that I want to have done. I can't wait to see it the next time I'm down there.

Oh my gosh there is so much to catch up on over the weekend! LOL

First for those of you who do not use the Nike + system I highly recommend it. I could not run without it hardly. It is motivational, especially when you set a new PR and Lance Armstrong or an other great athlete comes on to give you a big congrats!! I have a playlist for every increment of milages from 2 - a half marathon LOL, yes I am a NERD lol but a fun nerd, hehhehe.

OMG you ladies have to stop talking about tatoos... cause it makes me want another one REALLLLLY bad. I told myself I can have another once I get to goal and maintain it for at least 6 months. So at least that gives me time to figure out what i want, LOL.

Good luck to everyone traveling this week, just remember you can DO IT!!!!

I have attached the updated log with WI's from last week. Collectively the loss was just over 18 pounds!! WAY TO GO LADIES!!! Hopefully I can contribute this week lol. Jana

Sorry to be MIA.  Went to a family reunion in the Poconos over the weekend and didn't even think about looking at a computer.  It was beautiful there -- nice crisp autumn air and the leaves are beautiful.  We had over 100 relatives (I married into a huge Irish/Catholic family).  Good food and way too much drinking, but it was such a great time.  I did get a 3 mile run in Saturday morning before all the damage was done.  Back on plan today!

I missed my WI at my meeting on Friday since we were travelling but I'm up a few on my home scale since returning home.  Swapping water for whiskey and beer is not a good thing, so I'll be taking this week to get back down to where I was before we left.  Drinking water like crazy this morning!

I use my Nike+ all the time and I love it!

I have a quick question about the Nike+. Can one use the Nike+ in any shoes or does it require Nike shoes? I'm seriously considering putting this on my Christmas list, but I usually wear either Brooks or Asics shoes.

I have my WI in about 4 hours. By my home scale, I might squeak out a teensy loss (i.e. - less than a half pound). We'll see what the WW scale has to say.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

BunnyB - 2007-10-15 11:29 AM I have a quick question about the Nike+. Can one use the Nike+ in any shoes or does it require Nike shoes? I'm seriously considering putting this on my Christmas list, but I usually wear either Brooks or Asics shoes.

I can't wear Nike shoes (the arch is never in the right place), so I always wear Asics.  I found a sensor holder that velcros onto your laces on Amazon -- I just did a search and found the exact one I purchased a year ago for $4.44 -- http://www.amazon.com/Sport-Sensor-Nike-iPod-Kit/dp/B000ID6DTG/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-1664418-7458347?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1192462459&sr=8-2

The Nike+ system itself is only $29, as long as you already have the ipod nano.  It works great!  It's very motivating to see how far you've gone, how fast, how many calories you've spent, etc.  You can set your workout for a certain mile distance, time distance, or other goal and it will give you verbal feedback on how much of your goal you've met during the workout (Lance Armstrong's voice was cool).  It also keeps your workout history for a long time, and when I dock my ipod, you can upload all the workout data to the www.nikeplus.com website.  Any other questions?  Just ask!

Good Morning everyone!

Quite a chatty start to the week!  I love it!  Thanks for the info on the Nike +, sounds like something I need to check out.

I'm in San Francisco, catching up on some work before I hit the fitness center.  It's really quite chilly here today.

I'm kind of bummed this morning, my daughter's car was broken into on Saturday night.  They broke out the passenger window, somehow managed to break the door as well trying to steal a stereo.

What is this world coming to?

Oh, ink...one of my loves :-) I'm going in in two weeks for a partial cover-up, and maybe the start of something else depending on what we decide with the cover-up (my ink needs to be coverable by short sleeved shirts). We'll see what happens! I'm bummed that I won't be swimming a while after that, but it'll be worth it to get that tattoo fixed to something I wouldn't mind people seeing!

I'm still maintaining, which is good. Lately I haven't been sleeping well (thanks fibromyalgia), so I've been choosing sleep over working out. I have a full time job plus half-time grad student, so sleep is pretty important in my life! Actually, I've also been choosing chiropractic over working out too :-D

Hope everyone has a great week!

Thanks for the info and the link, Laurie! I recently upgraded from my iPod Mini to the new iPod nano. I checked the Apple site and confirmed the armband I bought with it has room for the Nike+ receiver. Yep, I'm thinking this is definitely going on my Christmas list ... or maybe even earlier. LOL

Hello everyone!

Who knew we were all such a group of ink junkies?! I only have one, but my sis and I are hoping to get matching tattoos soon. Maybe once I convince her to do a tri...

I HAVE to get this Nike+ thing!!! It sounds awesome. How much do songs cost on itunes? Can you put music from CDs onto iPods? Sorry, I am so not tech savvy.

I finally got into the pool yesterday...first time in over a year!! It actually felt great. I wish I hadn't put it off for so long. Plus, the moist air really helped to clear out my sinuses--I cannot kick this darn cold!

My weigh in is this evening. I've got my fingers crossed that I am down at least a bit. I had a rough week; my grandma passed away and one of my favorite patients also died. I managed to stay on plan though, which was a big deal, because usually I eat in response to stress.

I hope all of you who are traveling this week arrive at your destinations (and back home) safely!

Way to go Meslissa! Man you are a doing a fantastic job!!!

Emily- I hope your WI went well. I am soooo sorry to hear about your grandma and your patient. Good for you keeping OP with such stressful times!! That is a great accomplishment in itself.
As for you question about the ipod, yes you can dowload itunes, rip music from cd's you have already and also download music from itunes online ( .99 cents a song) and put it all on your ipod. The nike + is a great tool to add something new and fun to workouts.
Have a great day! Jana

Hi there,

Just a quick post to say hello.  I got a workout in yesterday, which was good.  Dinner last night was not a complete disaster, but close.

I am cracking up about all of the ink talk, yes I too have a tat - it's a custom sun, really cool.

Emily - so sorry to hear about your losses.  that is always difficult.

Melissa - woo hoo - she's swimming!  love it

Have a great day everyone!

My training class is on a break right now, so I thought I'd check in for a couple of minutes. Yay for wireless networks in training classes! I'm really glad I brought my laptop now.

Thanks for the kudos on the weight loss, ladies! I'm still kind of surprised, but oh-so-very happy by the result this week.

I had my first swim class last night. Turns out I was the only student, so I'm getting a private class for group class pricing. WOO HOO! I have to say, I forgot just HOW much work swimming actually is. I was soooooo tired after just a half hour of swimming. I did manage to get in 8 laps though. It's a start.

Oh, and I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I'm definitely inked, too. I currently have 3 with plans for at least 2, possibly 3, more. I posted pictures down in the challenge forum in our team thread last week. Of my 3, only 1 of them is visible. It's a very small bunny on the inside of my right ankle. I can even hide it by wearing a higher sock than my normal quarter socks, if I want.

I also have one of my left shoulder that I can show off if I want. It's a peace sign with a single red rose running through it. It pretty much only shows when I'm wearing a swimming suit or tank top.

My last one is my "tramp stamp" on my lower back. It's a butterfly with tribal vines on either side of it. Yeah, it doesn't get seen too often. LOL
