So there's this *new* product out that can be used to reduce your chances of getting a drug-resistant infection... It's next to Bactine ($3), an antiseptic that has been on the market for nearly 60 years. This stuff is called "StaphAseptic" ($13) and the label says "Helps prevent skin infections caused by antibiotic resistant staph".

The ingredients are the same as Bactine.

The company website features a video called "MSRA: The Ticking Time Bomb". Preying on consumer fears based on hyped-up media attention given to drug-resistant bugs, they're hopping on the bandwagon to raid your wallet.

Wash your hands. Be informed (http://www.mrsaresources.com/). Save your cash.

x2 and throw out the antibacterial soaps and cleansers. Plain soap and water. As my dad always says, "Whoever eats the most dirt lives the longest"

People are stupid and will believe anything. I HIGHLY doubt that if it's the same thing as Bactine, it's going to keep MRSA at bay, considering the couple of people I know who've either gotten it or known someone who've gotten it ended up in the hospital on IV-antibiotics.

yeah - those comercials where they show the lady wiping down her kitchen with a chicken breast because she didn't use disposable anti-microbial  wipes are nothing short of "fear mongering" for a buck at the expense of our health and environment.   I believe the National Geographic issue on allergies that supports Pinktrigirl's dad's statement.

It reminds me of reading that Yvon Chouinard (founder of Black Diamond and Patagonia) forbade his kids from washing their hands before dinner.

reemember the aliens in war of the worlds died from disease. You need to get sick to be resistant to it. If you never get sick when you do you will be in trouble. too many people try to hide from it.

This is how money will end up killing us all. The drug and cleaning companies sell their products by scaring idiots consumers into buying their products. They do it for one reason, to make money. These products only make the bacteria stronger. I don't care to go into much detail because it's 2:30AM, but micro evolution can happen in a matter of minutes. In an AP Bio lab (back when I was in High School), we made e coli resistant to ampicillin in just a few minutes (we did however help it along using vectors).

I drink well water, straight from the ground... not fluorinated... and I have never gotten a cavity
I don't use antibiotic products... and I haven't been to a doctor for sickness in 9 years

So American Consumers better HTFU, because one day their stupidity will affect us all (or our children, grandchildren, exc...)

You don't want to be the mother in the T.V ad who follows their kids around wiping everything they touch with an antibiotic wipe.
