Sounds like everyone did their best to stay on track over the holiday - CONGRATS!  (the way I look at it, just the awareness is a big accomplishment)

I didn't weigh in since I had the day off and we are on a break between WW at work sessions (the HR dept kind of messed up and we ended up with a week off between sessions)

If we end up not having a session at work, I will go back to my Sat morning sessions.  I don't know why I've been having so much trouble the past few weeks with motivation - I just sort of don't seem to care - I started out so great........

Ok, new leaf, new month, new session, new day - back on track!  In fact, as soon as I post this, I'm going to start my food log for the week!

I'm at a maintain this week. Don't anyone get excited though! LOL

This week's plan is no running. DH and I are going to the fitness center to swim every day and I'm going to get on the elliptical while waiting for him to show up...if I can figure out how to use it.

Good job Terri, nothin' wrong with maintaining.

Sounds like you're going to have a great week with changes in your exercise regimen.  Changing up the routine is good so that your body doens't get in a rutt.

Tip on the eliptical, try not to let your body bounce.  Keep your upper body stable while your legs do the work, unless it's a cross trainer then use your arms (in this case try to save your shoulders and back for swimming) - still, don't bounce.

Terri - the elliptical is pretty simple to use. and it's such a good low impact workout..way better than running on the knees. And a maintain is always better than a gain!

I finished the first month of the training program today with a 70 minute bike ride. I am convinced now that I need bike shorts, LOL. But I'm still really proud of what I've accomplished this month and I feel really good about it all.

The elliptical was very easy to do - instruction wise - but kicked my butt physically! LOL I lasted all of 3 minutes. It's very hard on the knees, isn't it? Or is it just me? I ended up on the treadmill afterward, so am icing my foot tonight.

I'll be back on that sucker tomorrow night though, and I'm shooting for 4 minutes this time

Oh, and I hopped on the scale tonight after I got out of the shower, just for grins and giggles...imagine my surprise to see I was 2 pounds lighter than I was this morning! LOL Hopefully all this going to the fitness center 5 days in a row will show some weightloss. I feel like I've been in a slump and am plateauing (?) because of it.

WTG on the run Jana - Wooo Hooo!  Have you picked a race yet?

Good job on the eliptical Terri!  I find that it can be a bit hard on my knees, I have to really watch the resistance and 'incline' levels to make sure it isn't putting too much pressure on my knees and feet -  Hopefully you are moving out of your slump!

Yes I am doing the Chevron/Armaco Houston Half Marathon on January 13, 2008. I need to start counting down so I have some extra motivation, lol.
This will be my second half I did this same one last year. It is a nice flat course and hopefully this year the weather will cooperate a little better.
I did not weigh in last week, to much going on friday with all the football games and clean up from turkey day.

Have a great day everyone! Jana

Morning everyone

I'm feeling so tired today, strange because I took an off day yesterday to relax and regroup. Oh well, I'll get my energy back on the bike tonight. I looked online for bike shorts and didn't have much luck. I'm still in a plus size, and it seems those have a very limited amount of options. Is there a difference between mens and womens bike shorts? I think I may just order some plain black men's shorts if there isn't.

Terri - Glad the elliptical went well! It really is a kick butt workout.

Jana - I can't WAIT until I can run a half marathon! Right now, the idea simply terrifies me, lol.

I recommend Team Estrogen or Terry Bicycles for plus size cycling shorts. I ended up ordering from Team Estrogen, but got the Terry short, because they had a sale. I had to go down a size, even though I originally ordered based upon my measurements. The pad is nice and thick! LOL

Great news!

I can't believe I'm still going! I've usually given up by the 3rd or 4th week and I'm almost at 16! For some reason it's easier this time. Maybe 3rd time really is a charm. Or maybe it's the exercise....or the company I keep?

well, whatever the reason, that's awesome!

I'm sure it's a combination of all of the above - not to mention the fact that you are seeing results :-)

Jana - Great job on the run

Terri - How many minutes on the eliptical today?

I know there are others I should mention, but I forgot already

I did not weigh in on Monday as my son was home sick. Worked today, next opportunity on Friday.

Ran a 5K on Turkey day and am working on increasing my distance in the pool.

Thanks for asking Lani! Woohoo! I made it to 4 minutes tonight. I think that's my max for a couple of days though. Ouch! LOL

hey everyone! i'm in way too good a mood because this morning i saw 240 on the scale! i'm literally shocked and amazed that through incorporating into the core program all the rules from the nutritionist after the rmr test...i am already seeing a 5 lb weight loss in 11 days...including thanksgiving! i was hoping to go home for christmas around or below 230 and figured that was impossible but now, i have some hope that while maybe i may not reach it, i will get very close my pants are getting baggier and i am really starting to notice some changes! and just breaking this plateau is really improving my overall mood

hope everyone else is having as good a day and training hard!

Terrific job! Hold tight to the successes...we're in this for the long haul, and there will be tough stretches. Perseverence is the key--when we fall, just brush off and get back to it.

Nice work!

(After my whining last week, I had a -2 week...167.5!)
