Nah, I think everyone's been there. I think most couples go through something like this. Unfortunately, I never could get my spouse to figure out the whole GIVE and take thing. So, well, I took back. Hopefully you and your fam can work out all the kinks. I love the SAU idea! (even if it does make me think of School Administrative Unit...) Very cool. |

If I wasn't tapering I would probably still be out there Ooooh, nice! You seem awfully chipper for being on taper - are you sure you aren't sneaking in extra workouts? :p |

I'm back from my camping trip which turned into a Bed and Breakfast trip which ended in me getting sick and puking all night. Fun stuff. I did manage to run 2 more miles! YUCK-O!! Being sick sucks, being sick on vacation sucks a LOT. Kinda fun to get to do the B&B thing, but not for that reason. Hope you are feeling better! |

Somehow sipping on coffee in front of the computer in the air conditioned house sounds much more appealing than running outside in the heat You called? Does anyone else think that is just creepy timing and that there are hidden tasers surrounding all of us at all times? Don't you have to pack or something, Dee? |

Master 2665 The Whites, New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Team #3 - August 4 is More Challenge tnickerson - 2009-08-11 8:32 AM How far will you go backpacking? I have very carefully NOT added up the mileage. LOL! This is gonna be one heck of an epic hike. 10+ miles the first day, somewhere around 15ish the second day. We are going fast and light - I'll do about 7 miles the second day with no pack so we can move faster. The fatigue in my legs means I can't carry as much as I <strike>should</strike> used to, so we - my BFF and I - are figuring out ways around it. I'm gonna be consuming a LOT of caffeine! This is kind of a make-up hike from having to bail on our big five-day trip in July, so I'm nervous, but determined. I want to kick it in the rear! |

Veteran 340 | Subject: RE: Team #3 - August 4 is More Challenge Sitting here reading logs, drinking my coffee, and our guinea pig is running laps in her cage (a huge cage). Struck me funny that even animals (rodents) like to exercise, why is it so hard for some humans to figure it out? So I am not doing the race this weekend, but I have had plans on doing the race in Sept for my birthday. I got a personal invitation in the mail the other day from the running group, to make sure I sign up. Showed HB and said I am doing the 10k instead of the 1/2 because I did not train enough due to injury. However, I wanted to do the 1/2 in Oct in WA. He agreed to both, one its my b-day, and his BF lives in WA so he will be fine. Excited!! I got to work yesterday and the higher ups informed me I had to travel for training the third week of Sept. and I had to leave Sunday morning. (race day). They said maybe it will be delayed, but plan on it. I have thought, I am supposed to drive there. (10 hrs) Maybe if I race, then catch a flight I would be fine. grrrr... |

Elite 3913 far northern CA | Subject: RE: Team #3 - August 4 is More Challenge I'll be running on a treadmill later today. I have an appointment with a running coach to take a look at my running form. Should be interesting. Any suggestions on questions I should ask? I always get shin splints no matter how much or little I train, what kind of shoes I'm wearing, how old or new they are, etc, etc. |

Glad your husband is on board for the races. I had to cancel a race earlier this year due to a work trip. It's frustrating. I hope you can get things worked out. If not, there will always be more races (don't worry, I had a hard time convincing myself of that too) |

I always get shin splints no matter how much or little I train, what kind of shoes I'm wearing, how old or new they are, etc, etc. That's exciting! I've never had that done before. Hopefully he can look at your footstrike and the shoes you are in and see if that might be the source of the problem. I used to get a lot of achy pains in the knees and ankles and stuff when running. After taking a look at several race photos of my foot strike (crude analysis, i know) I determined I was wearing the wrong shoes. Bought some new ones and have felt much better since. But I really want to get a professional analysis to see if I was right. |

I do some weird stuff with my feet. One problem with living in the middle of nowhere. Let us know how it goes! Oh, and one suggestion - write down EVERYTHING! Better yet, video the session. I promise, you will NOT remember half of it. |

Workouts today helped me regain my sanity (what little there is) Sanity? What's that? I didn't get a workout in either yesterday or today. GRR!!!! I went to do an OWS (shocking, I know!). I was just putting my toes in to see how cold it was when KABOOM! The thunder started. Lifeguard in me says, uh, notsoverymuch, kthxbai! I hung around for a bit, but I knew it wouldn't clear off. So I shrugged and got back in the car and went and had a beer on my porch with my BFF. Pretty much the same thing, right? Anywho, I bike in to a meeting at work tomorrow. It is in the middle of the day, so I'm going to do the longer route (10 mi each way, have been doing 5) and get to do it on my roadie since I'll be able to see. I'm super excited about it! Plus, it'll help me deal with being pissed off, since after the meeting I have my eval... |
