mehaner - 2012-11-19 9:57 AM PSA - trail running in the fall is dangerous.  the leaves on the ground cover up tree roots very well.  second sprained ankle this year!  WOO!

Hope the sprain isn't too bad and it heals quickly!

it's worse than the last time i did it, but still not terrible.  i did some hardcore RICEing yesterday.

I did a trail run Saturday and I've been walking like an old man ever since.  My calves are absolutely destroyed from all the side-to-side stuff.

But it's so much more engaging than running on the shoulder of a road or in a neighborhood...

Seriously, I am glad to see you post this, because I raced a trail run on Saturday as well, and it absolutely beat my legs up!  I thought perhaps my run fitness just sucked because I could barely run on Sunday, but perhaps not all is lost?

On the contrary. Recover well and much is GAINED, Coral Gregg.

Yeah, I agree.  The last time I blasted my calves like this on a trail run was in the Tucson Mountain Park.  After I recovered, i ran a lot better than before that trail run.

I think it's a great way to work-out the stabilizers.

Or, if you're Meh, to almost break your ankle...

I've got some groin pain (probably from climbing all over the boat, hoisting myself up with a small foothold or on a slippery ladder) and nasty jelly bites I'm trying to get over, but it is all so worth it.

You're doing it wrong. That is NOT how you get groin pain that is "so worth it".

Jealous of your reef adventures, not so much the jelly stings.  Have been fortunate enough to never have any of those, so far.

I haven't had a jelly sting since I moved to TX in September, but I still have marks on my legs from my last run-in.

Use some Vinegar...

Or pee.

Either yours or have someone do it. May be able to make some cash.
