Day 731,15.2 miles. Today is my two year mark of my running streak, I have ran everyday for two years in row now. In the two years of the streak I have ran a total of 6,557.24 miles. I have also ran 12 marathons, a 50k, a 50 miler and a 100 miler in those two years with many other shorter races. Hopefully I can keep this streak going for another 20 years, that'll make me 71 then but it can be done.

Great job on hitting 2 years! Amazing to be able to keep that high miles and still run every day.

Ron - congrats on the 2 years. That is incredible.

Friday #117 - 2 miles easy
Saturday #118 - 1.1 miles followed by multiple miles walking around in frigid Chicago/Evanston weather...I hope this suffices
Sunday #119 - 2 miles pretty easy following 90 minutes on the bike trainer

#119 - 4.6. I kept the hood on my sweatshirt tied tight, and the resulting windburn pattern made my face look like the flag of Japan. It's co-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-old 'round these parts.

Day 733, 9.5 miles.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It has been an incredible 2 years, I am so glad I started this running streak. Now I have zero excuses not to run and would hate myself if I did not run just because I did not feel like it now. I am also surprised that this 51 year old body is holding up as well as it has been with the mileage I am running.

#401- 20 min on treadmill after swim. 2.5 mi or so. Back in the pool after about 2 months or. I am sad. I was fatigued doing half of what I was doing 3 or so months ago.

Monday - #120 - 7+ miles. I got a little carried away. I was going to do a pyramid up and back down, up .1 mph every mile for the first 4, and then back down...but I just kept going up. Even started increasing more frequently towards the end. Might screw up my planned speed work for tomorrow.

#402- 5 miles. Legs feel pretty recovered. Ran a bit faster than I had last week, and when I was done my legs gave me the "we're done?... Really?" So, I guess I can take that as a good sign.

I am still going to take it easy for a few weeks, this is really the only time of year where I have nothing on the horizon for awhile and can get as close to 100% as possible.

I say it is about 80-90% right now. It is more of a discomfort than anything right now and todays run it did not appear until around mile 8. For most of the day it does not hurt at all and only starts as I get into my run which is not too bad I guess. All things considered it could much worse. After todays run it took about 4 hours for the discomfort to subside.

How are you feeling in your post marathon recovery? Getting ready to up the mileage soon or just going to keep it easy until the next training cycle?

Feeling pretty good, better by the day really. The plan is to do Pfitz 85 starting mid Jan, so ill need to work back up to to 60mpw or so by then, so I do have some time for recovery. I am pretty much following the Pfitz recovery schedule, with 2 miles on the off days. In the meantime I'm getting back in the pool, and will start to get more serious on the bike. I hope to train swim/bike along with the marathon plan. The challenges will be having the time and keeping myself in one piece. I've set some preliminary goals for my two A races next year. Hope to go sub 3 hour marathon at the end of April, and sub 10:30 IM in August.

#404- 2 mi.

#406- 2 mi.

Can't really give good advice, since good advice would be to let yourself heal up. But with your 100 in Feb, you won't do that. So the best advice I can offer is to lay off all intensity (like the 12 mile progression run you did the other day), if you want some intensity in your program, work in some cross training.

That said, could be worse than "somewhat painful."

Day 739, 10 mile recovery run.

I know I pushed it a little this week, I did it to see how I would hold up, hoping for the best so I can get back to some speed work too. I guess I'll slow the pace down for another week or two but try to keep the miles up in the 7-80 per week range. I have just under nine weeks until the 100 miler.

Sunday - #126 - 2.3 miles.

I did a 90 minute trainer session this morning, and then went in the afternoon for a treadmill run. I'm not sure if it was all the beer and scotch on Saturday afternoon coupled with very little sleep both Friday and Saturday night, or if it was general fatigue, but that was my worst run in quite some time. Hopefully back to normal tomorrow.

#125: 3.58

That week I was sick and doing minimum distance runs seems to have done me good. My automatic pace is now about 45 sec/mi faster, despite conscious efforts to go slower.
