#408 - ?2 mi after swim, much better than my first day back in the pool, but still somewhat depressing to have lost the IM conditioning

I find that my swimming fitness returns quite rapidly, unlike running fitness. I only swim in the lake and that usually does not start until late May at the earliest and I am done by early August, that is when the local adventure race is that I do the 2.6 mile open water swim in.

#409 - 5mi tempo pace.

Wanted to test my recovery since I felt pretty good the last few days, still have a nagging knot/stiffness in my left calf. Will foam roll tonight, run recovery pace tomorrow and hopefully work it out, other than that, all is good. I still will stick to a conservative recovery schedule.

Pre dawn this time of year has its pros and cons, a lot of time its freezing cold, but at least its not so early, summer pre dawn here is out the door at 5am or earlier. Most of the time either way I prefer to run in the evening, even tonight I finished my run up after 8pm.

#129 - 3.3 miles - getting up and out the door early gets my run out of the way and takes care of the dog's morning constitutional. Even if it's freezing cold, I find the air to be much cleaner and pleasant early in the morning. On weekends, when I don't have to get the run in before work, I find it far too easy to keep pushing the run back.

Wednesday - #129 - 2 miles early in the morning. I was a mess. Tight and tired from speed work the night before. Meant to bring clothes with me so I could quick shower at the gym and go, but quickly realized I forgot underwear, an under shirt, and socks so had to cut the run short at 2 miles to head back home to shower there. Was almost late to my first appointment due to it. Got through it though...will be hitting up a tempo run this afternoon.

#411- 2 mi. I will miss the extra recovery day each week. Getting a power meter on my bike within the next 2 weeks or so, and am pretty excited to put together a training plan.

#130: 3.66. Shorts and a t-shirt sure were nice this morning. Even though the weather is supposed to turn ugly this weekend, I'm excited to start working my new pairs of shoes into the mix.
