Awesome race report!  I was there spectating and volunteering.  I heard your name called when you got out of the water.  I wish I knew then what you looked like.  Great job out there.

Congrats to all the finishers!! You are all amazing!  I was at bike aid station #2 and then was able to watch the pros finish.  Makes me want to sign up and do this next yeaer. I've got my first HIM in Kerrville come October so we'll see.

Question though, some of you mentioned being stopped on the bike course.  I've never been in a tri where I've had to stop because of traffice on the bike.  How in the world is this possible, I mean there were Kona spots up for grabs here? 

I did think it was odd that traffic was open in BOTH directions at our aid station.

hey there.   welcome.   thanks for volunteering!  yeah, it seems there was a breakdown in communication somewhere.  a few rumors flying around as to why but the botom line is it happened, i was one of the ones stuck.  clearly not in pursuit of a kona slot but we're all trying to get to the same place as fast as we can.  i'm sure keith and crew have already gotten an earful about it and will get it fixed next year.

i got my transition bags satuday night.  actually my wife got them. 

at the end of lap two i dumped my visor and garmin in run special needs, clearly not thinking, right.  so on sunday morning they opened up the trucks and the transitions bags were there but no special needs.  i asked where they were and was told they got tossed. 

lol! this damn race, i really f'd it up all around.   its all on me, they clearly stated time and again not to put anything of value in the special needs bags.

oh, my sunglasses were in there to.  :-)

KEJ - 2011-05-24 6:38 PM Thanks Just back from the woodlands and a post-race wrap up with all of the authorities. Everyone loved it. It'll only be better next year, I'm sure. There are always glitches the first year, but I'm happy to say they were minimal this year. Really happy with how it went, and glad you all enjoyed it!!!!!! People really have NO idea about what goes into putting something like this on. It's an incredible effort, by literally thousands of people. The event has been about 18 months in the making. I think kudos should be given to everyone: the sheriffs dept, the woodlands township, the community, ems, memorial hermann, the spectators, and YOU. It was a tough day out there!!!!!!!!

Do I have another day to think about it before it sells out? 

I want round 2!

Noooo!  Next year you need to focus on making the RWB Aid Station double-plus awesome, showing the rest of us how it's done.   You can do the race the year after that.  I hear the weather will be cooler for the 2013 race anyway.

I had a great time volunteering and cheering everyone on! What an incredible day!

I think one of the highlights was cheering a girl into the finish 20 minutes after midnight. My friends and I saw her in the distance with med motorcycles surrounding her. One of them told us her name. We ran along the side with her all the way to the finish and though the lights were off and most everyone was gone, and finish line was breaking down, they put her finishers medal on. AWESOME!

KEJ - 2011-05-25 5:27 PM come join us!!!!!! The longterm weather forecast calls for a cold front coming in on thur before the race, with highs of 74 on race day, and 50% humidity. Winds are called for NNE at 1mph We had 45,000 lbs of ice for the race, and used almost all of it Drinks and sponges stayed cold, though!!!!!!

Aw hell. I'm in. Roped one more in for sure - I imagine it will be 5-10 in the next few days. I actually heard a cold front is going to hit Montgomery, or well Grimes, then Montgomery county around 11am on Saturday, May 19, after stiff south winds had been blowing throughout the morning.
