Day 753, 6.2 miles. Deep snow out there. Whoever keeps shaking that snow globe can stop anytime.

Nice long run in the cold. Do you carry anything with you to drink? How do you keep it from freezing?

Run #449. A lot of below zero running this past week and its only December.

Day 754, 2 miles busy day today.

Yes I carry an insulated bottle so the only thing that really freezes in the nozzle and then I can just unscrew the top and drink when that happens or hold it in my mouth and breath on it until it thaws out. I hear you on the below zero weather already.

#422- swim, 2 mi run, weights, in that order

Ran inside, not as cold here 20s. Gets down to single digits here sometimes, rarely below zero. I actually like extreme weather, its makes it exciting in a way, heavy rain, heavy snow, really cold, really hot etc.., although it gets old quick if its too often. I'm not going to say I feel sorry for you guys running out in sub zero, but I will say that I'm glad its not me!!!

Monday - #141 - 4 easy miles. Came home and bored myself to death for 1:45 on the bike trainer while watching a movie.

#141 - 4 miles. I'm enjoying my new HRM, but I'm really looking forward to geeking out once I have good baseline data set established.

Day 755, 15.3 cold night time miles. I really enjoy running at night in the winter, much more than the summer but I am not sure why that is.

I am jealous of your 1:45. I have to get motivated to get on the bike. Dropping it off tomorrow to get a powermeter put on, if that doesn't work, then I don't know what will!!

I can see better in the winter if there is snow on the ground, that's one positive. It's darker in the summer, and if I run when it is really dark, no street lights...etc.., it has a weird disorienting effect on me, sort of like low grade dizziness. Not a big fan of winter running cold though.

#423- 6 mi progression on treadmill. Finished faster than last time, one month post marathon, I feel like my legs are finally back. 9.5 to 10 mph on last 2 miles.

I couldn't do 1:45 without Trainer Road, I'll tell you that much. I put my laptop in front of the TV, and then put in a movie or something I don't have to follow closely. TR gives some decent workouts. I'm just working on a base right now, so it is slow easy miles which is incredibly boring. 4x 1:45 this week, then 4x 2:00 next week. Yargh.

I'm jealous of getting a power meter. I just use TR's simulated power with my trainer. It's good enough for feedback.

Tuesday - #142 - 5.5 miles speed work. Was brutal because I had to take a client and supplier out to dinner, and couldn't get the run in before, so I did a speed workout on a stomach mostly filled with Olive Garden. Ugh.

#424- 8.3 mi - 1 hour on treadmill, been running a lot indoors lately. Its not the cold, its just really icy around my neighborhood, can barely make it down my driveway. If the winter keeps up like this I may have to invest in some yaktrax.

I tried the yaktrax and a couple of other things for winter running and do not like any of them. I just run slower or like you when it is too slippery I head for the garage and the treadmill.

Day 757, 6 miles on the treadmill with 8x1/4 mile intervals. I really need to get some speed work going before the 100 miler. I think it is 6 more weeks from today and I am feeling really under trained for this one. Not sure why I feel that way but I have not done more than 80 miles in a week in two months, that maybe why I feel under trained.

Thursday - #144 - 4 miles of a progression run. Didn't sleep much the night before, felt a little harder than it should have. Promptly went over to a buddy's house afterwards and drank way too many 9.5% beers, which means tonight's run is going to be misery.

Just finished my hungover "easy" 4 miles. Headache just wouldn't go away.

Now 1:45 on the trainer coming up. Such an exciting Friday night.

Friday - #145 - 4 miles

Drink extra, and eat as much as you normally would. Some caffeine, and aspirin could help too. Probably too late for this time, but next time, and there will be a next time....perhaps after that 1:45 ride!!

#426- 9 mi after 2500yd swim.

Day 759, 8.2 hung over miles in a light rain. I was in shorts today though, temps in the low 50's.

#427- 5 mi.

Ran slow, had pain on outside of leg just below knee. Hopefully nothing long term. Doesn't feel good though.

#428 - 2 easy miles.

Coming down the stairs this morning was not fun, very stiff. Took a handful of ibuprofen, waited about 30 to 40 minutes, run felt ok. Pain still there, but not as bad as yesterday. Could be the ibuprofen though. I think it is just a touch of tendonitis, its been there festering for awhile, but not enough to really notice, and yesterday it just really started to ache. Hopefully it goes away quickly, I'm ready mentally to start some more serious training.
