Extreme Veteran 461 Minnesota | Subject: RE: They Who Shall Not be Named! I'm caught up now... and it looks like I have been talking to myself all morning LOL! Oh well. I had dreams about swimming last night... I'm really excited to have finally got myself into the water. Did I see that next month is a swim challenge? That would be awesome for me to really focus on my swim for December. After that my century training starts the last week of December and then in January my half-marathon training starts. Going to go for a run today, 3 miles should be good. I'm going to wait until it warms up some though. It's 37 degrees (feels like 31 with wind chill) right now, but is supposed to get up to the mid-50's. How do I do the reporting? That is today right? Do I just post it within this thread, do I send it to someone? |

Hahahaha!Sorry its just too easy... besides I will be kind of sad to see all that twisnibbin time drop back to a solitary star... sniff sniff
It may be solitary, but it is a different color from all us lowbie stars! Rock on stars! |

I'll do a little bit of that now. Last month we posted in the thread, and I think our team captain would pop out and check our logs. So I'll be posting mine here. |

You dont need a referral for that do you? or a personal trainer? Could do massage. As for the trainers, um, I've met them. Um. Around here, pretty much anyone who works for the gym, calls themselves a "trainer." One of my friends who used to be a PT said that many PT do what they can to make sure you feel like you *need* them so they can keep making money. Hopefully there are some good ones out there, but that is kinda discouraging to hear it straight from someone who used to be one. When I think of a PT I think of physical therapist, instead of a personal trainer. I agree that the therapist is the way to go. A couple of years ago I thought I was going to need surgery on my shoulder, but the PT worked on me and my shoulder is great now. I have stretches that I need to do and strength training which helps a lot. I got out of doing them once the shoulder was better, but now that I'm swimming again, I am doing the ones that I can remember so that I can hopefully avoid having a problem with the shoulder again. So go see your doctor and get the referral to a Physical Therapist. Well worth it if it will keep you from making the shoulder worse. Don't put it off. My uncle had problems with his elbow, refused to go to the doctor and by the time he finally went, it was too late and he is unable to straighten that arm out. Don't wait (says the voice of doom and gloom). |

Ive been waiting for AGES to see a new challenge but its like they are all going forever and ever and never stop... so there doesnt seem to be a way to join in.... Hi Cat Keep in mind that I'm new to this, but from what I have observed - there seems to be a new challenge starting every 90 days - The organizers are really cool about letting people join in and it certainly doesn't seem to be limited - there are lots of the same people of course - but new comers are always weclome I also have a thread that I start every week - WW and friends of WW - I started it a few months ago and it's more of a discussion thread about successs, challenges, questions - it's a smaller thread with lots of people that pop in and out - more of a support thread and less of a challenge thread - there are some really great people that post, including a few that are particating in the Nov challenge hope that helps :-) |

I thought I would be able to pad my actual training plan with my HP class I have, but we have been having classes canceled and other activities planned. |

Beth suggested reporting right here in the thread. If it gets "lost" amidst the chatter, well, we'll figure something else out. It was chilly here this morning, also. It's sunny though, so I'm hoping it warms up soon. |

Scott - no idea, oh Spokes, where are you?? Dee - really needs to get her shoulder looked at - yep, that's the group consensus! ;-) Yanti - how was the date???????? Lots of talk around Stretching: Cat provided a great explanation When you work out and muscles get put under stress one of their reactions is to tigthen... after awhile they dont loosen up as much and stay tight.... This will pull body parts out of alignment and cause injuries.... because other muscles will start to compensate for the tight muscles and it will affect how you move. Also if muscles are held in a certain position (ie high heels) over time they will tighten to fit the position they are used to... Stretching keeps the muscles supple and your body in good alignement (among other things) Edited by lastcall2003 2007-11-11 10:49 AM |
