Hello, Hello, Hello!!!!  this week has been interesting.  I tweaked my ankle so I had to take this week easy and prep for the race.

So today was my race.  It went great! Cool morning, with frost on the ground when the race started.  Pool swim went well-- a little slower than my practice time but the person in front of me would stop before going under the lane lines.
Bike I should have grabbed my jacket, but thought the temp was comfortable-- 2 blocks into the ride I was frozen.  But the steep hill helped me warm up.  I was passed more than I wanted, but my legs wouldn't go much harder.
Run- Transition into run was hilarious, one of my friends was a volunteer  at the slow down spot-- she accused me of looking like an old woman when I tried to run into transition.  Hey I was just glad I didn't fall off in the dismount process.  Running it took a while to be able to feel my hands and feet but I kept moving.  Was glad when I reached the halfway point-- first half is up hill, second half is down hill.  I finished my last mile in 10 minutes. (a good pace for me)

Overall time 1:38-- 26 minutes faster than last year  Can't wait to see the splits.

Did the longest swim ever in my life - 2 miles in the pool. Very slow though. This afternoon went for 1 hour bike outside for first time in season. Felt great, except arms still hurting from swim this morning.

Did a 1000m time trial today in 21:32. Assuming I can keep that pace, wich we know I cannot, that puts me in at a 1:26 Ironman swim.

Did spirnt drills today for first time. 250 warm up with 3 sets of 100 meter sprints with 30 second rest between followed by 250 cool down. Did each sprint in 1:57 and thought I was going to die by the end. Need to build that up and quickly.

Wurtsboro 30k today . wow was it tougher than I remember from 6 years ago. Forgot all about the rolling hills the last 5 miles. But boy was it a pretty race.

Okay so although it was a painful race and I enjoyed it immensely, I did not do nearly as well as I did in 2004. I came in 61st overall and 11th in my age group. 2004 I was 5th in my age group. This was the last race i will ever do in the under 40 age groups, gross.

So I remember clearly the first 4 miles being straight up, but forgot about the rolling and climbing hills of the last 5 miles, and at mile 14 is when the discomfort really set in. Still hobling around today, but hopefully will swim and spin today (doubt I will be able to run tonight).

Monday- sick kids, no workout
Tuesday- 3 mile run at an incline
Wednesday- aerobics in the am, kickboxing in the pm
Thursday- 40 min swim (bonus wall paper removal, and fence construction workouts)
Friday- aerobics (bonus fence workout-- but I am almost done)
Weekend- non-existant  my hunny was out of town so the kids and I played
MOnday aerobics
Today 5 mile run, 5 ish miles on the bike with kids in the trailer going to and from school

I found out that I placed 4th in the Athena division of my race.  Not bad.  My swim times were better than all but one athena competitor (she finished in 1:11 -- much faster than the rest of us.  2nd fisished in 1:26, 3rd in 1:30, me at 1:34...)  Looking to cut off more in future races.  Going for better form on the bike to increase efficiency, fixing my back so I can transition from bike to run with more ease-- chiropractor is helping with that.  More confidence running at a faster pace for longer distances-- I will not die, I can push it a little more.

Swam at lunch with a 250 w/u followed by 3x100 sprints followed by 250 c/d. Ouch - felt like something was trying to get out of my lungs using a blow torch.

Did a 32 mile ride yesterday. Hills were tought.

Did a pretty rough 3 mile run today. Took both kids in the double jogger to the park. Boy did they get heavier, and if I am not mistaken the hills around here got steeper.

Scott - Didn't you get the memo? Pushing a double stroller up a hill counts as two workouts

Saturday- 1 hour pool swim.  30 minutes of drills, 30 minutes swim.
Monday- 30 minute bike ride  (I set the tension harder than was comfortable to simulate continuous up hill)  followed by a 5 minute run.  My back felt great when I transitioned from bike to run.  Bonus aerobics and furniture moving workouts. (my daughter had me move her dresser, bed and desk a couple times before she was satisfied.)

I bet your getting faster Scott, and nice job Erica! I ran 6.5 miles home from the repair shop after dropping off my car for an oil change. Nothing like multi-tasking

So did 1250 in the pool at lunch. First time with jammers and shaved legs after a rest day. Took 4 minutes off my best time. Is it the jammers, the shaving or the rest day?

Did 60 laps today, 3000 meters in 1 hour and 4 mintes. Puts me at a realistic 1:24 ironman swim. Then this afternoon did an easy 8 mile run in 1 hour and 3 minutes.
