wgraves7582 - 2010-03-25 3:48 PM I get to go listen to a 5th grade boys sex-ed talk - fun times!!! - LOL

My son didn't even want me coming but I have to - I told him we would go for pizza afterwards and I would correct all the bad stuff they said!

Just think it will be my first education in the subject and I am 43!  My parents did not do a real bang up job educating us

Hope today's talk clears a few things up for you.

You should see the banter I am getting from my wife's friends on FB!  Too funny.

I told them all I could teach the class - stay away from girls until you are 25 and then marry someone as great as I did and it will be great!

Think I will be getting lucky tonight? - LOL

Almost certainly.  Pizza followed by Pizza.  Sounds perfect.  And the good news is you may learn about some new toppings for that pizza.  Kiss

True.  Although some of my friends kids scare me a bit.  The girls more than the boys.  I think all I knew in 5th grade is that boys were someone you punched if you liked them.

I am with you!  My son is the school stud (gets it from his mom I guess ) and you should see the girls after him.  It has been like that since Kindergarten and I was like wow bud.  He plays it cool and just laughs.  I have seen them blow kisses to him in K or 1st grade and just shook my head.

In pre-school a girl said she wanted to have his babies??????????  Are you kidding me.  I didn't want to know about girls until 7th or 8th at the earliest and really no interest until 10th - I was a late bloomer!!

Different world than what we grew up in.  My middle nephew didn't want an e-mail account or cell phone because the girls were harrassing him.  Although he turned 16 last summer and things changed quickly.  He's 6'3" and a total jock so it was bound to happen.

kcarroll - 2010-03-25 7:23 AM So I was looking through Runners World from a few months ago.  The Marathon issue.  It had rankings for all the *best* marathons.  Best: for families, spectators, amenities, value, BQ, scenery etc.  The #1 overall race is in Missoula MT.  It's in July and unfortunately I can't make it this year, but 2011 it is going to happen.  Anyone want to run it with me?  BTW, still keeping fingers and toes crossed for the NYC lottery.

Also, full disclosure....I was born in Missoula.  I have some very cool cousins that still live there.  It will be a party weekend.

I read this article as well and this race sounded awesome. I love the idea of destination races. Unfortunately they're just not very practical for me right now. However, someday I will have time for races like Missoula, Big Sur, Alcatraz, Coeur d'Alene, etc. I also want to do a tri in Alaska for some weird reason

So, aside from the destination, what makes a good race, a good race? Is it the volunteers? The swag? The post-race food? (I could really use the input for the marathon we're puting together this fall).

Hi Amy.  Probably a combination of all of the above.  I think the first thing you might want to think about is what do you want to be known for? Is it being family friendly or logistically attractive?  Maybe, best spectator turnout ie NYC.  What can you offer ie spectacular scenery that other races can't provide?  I think once you decide on your purpose/mission then you can develop your overall plan.  If you can't find the article on line PM me your address, I'll make a copy and send to you.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-25 10:21 AM Hope all is well Tom.  It was slow for us back when we were 18 right? (not me but it sounds good now that I am 43 )

He was actually 22, but that's still just freakish. This guy is used to running the 1.5 mile in 7:45 or so. He's also thinking about doing a HIM race the weekend before he leaves for OCS just for fun. Freak

Just make sure you put something nice in the folder so the instructors give him a good welcome workout Innocent

That's already taken care of. He's a SEAL candidate, so they'll have plenty of fun in store for him when he gets to Newport!

Looks like I just missed everyone. Just got back from my wife's doctor appointment here and I'm letting my late lunch settle before I go for my run. I'm gonna warm up by making my son do a half mile or so with me. He's got entirely too much energy and doesn't like to go play outside. Bad combo. Maybe I can wear him out enough so I don't have to listen to another lecture about all the different Batman villains during dinner again!
