charles-goff - 2010-11-17 5:03 PM So far this year I have been shafted with lower 40's and clear, where the hell is winter when you need it? The last three times I have been able to get my bike out for a ride it has been in the mid 40's. I guess I need to start training at 2:00 AM.

I'm with you!  It's only been cold enough to qualify on a couple mornings, but I don't want to get up at 4:30 to give me enough time to get out and run a couple miles!

I love how my kids are encouraging me to go run before it gets too warm!  Went for a bike ride and crashed my bike in my driveway!  two bummed up knees...

Nichi
who earned a whopping 60 points for her 30 minute bike ride this morning!

it was 63F in the Northeast yesterday.  No points for me.   But I am signing up for some outdoor winter tri's so hopefully I can gain some crappy points!

It is a beautiful morning, low 30's and snowing. I had a great bike ride, and I will most likely run this afternoon. Before that though I need to finally get around to getting my snow plow ready for winter. I was lulled into not doing it by the good weather.

Once I got around to figuring the points on my wet bike rides last week, I am doing good for point. I went to post in this mornings ride and realised I hadn't put in the two rides I did last week. Mid to upper 30's on a bike in a light rain really adds up if you do it long enough. That and I have change my riding so I ride around the airport, there is always a stiff wind blowing there.

Stupid warm weather. I would have picked up some good points last night with my 1+ hour run and 20+ mph wind if it were a little cooler.

Cold winter storm warning for the area starting Saturday and lasting four days. "Significant snow accumulation is likely." Following the storm "it is possible that very cold Arctic air could spread into the state." I'm getting excited for the point possibilities!

Tell me they let you swim inside!  I'm doing some winter duathlons -- so much more comfortable w/o wet hair.

They look cool - Mountain Bike, Cross Country Ski, Snowshoeing.

They are too far away with our busy season and mandatory OT but someday I will do one

haha -- that makes much more sense!!  Maybe santa will bring me running snowshoes -- thanks for the great idea!  Pretty sure they do these up in Summit County -- not enough snow down here.

That raises an interesting point, I have a pair of running snowshoes, do I get extra points when the snow gets deep enough, because I love to run in them on the high schools cross country course. It doesn't get used by anyone but a local group of snowshoers, so it is a nice 5k through the woods in the quiet. Should be good for a point though, running in snowshoes is definitely harder than running in shoes.

Another great day for points, I rode my bike to work. 15 min each way, both in 20-30 mph winds, snow and cold. This has the potential to be a good winter after all.

I'm with ya on that! Yeppers, nice chilly 23 degrees this am... lips, nose, and hands were pretty frozen by the time I got home...gotta dig out the heavy winter weather gear. LOL

Folks... I am leaving for FL tomorrow so won't get to rack points in til Dec. 1st.
FWIW...my mom called from FL and said to bring my 'woolies' cuz temps are due to drop with highs only in mid 70's LOL.

Got a 2 hour ride in today - temps in the 30's.  I am slower than last month that is for sure

Riding is all I have right now, rolled my big toe and don't want to run on it at least until the pretty colors go away.  Hoping to go for my B-day ride the day after Thanksgiving so if I have it in me will get some good time, don't know if it will qualify for points or not.

I guess it is time to head inside for swimming, the Coast Gaurd advised me today as I was geting ready to hit the water in the river for a quick mile, that I should stay out of the water until next spring. I'll take their advice, last year I ignored them and they came out and "rescued" me about 3/4 of the way through my mile swim. I was fine, but someone saw me in the water and called the rescue station. Apperantly my swimming looks a bit frantic from a distance. The rescue team are all friends of mine, so they had a good laugh at my expense when they saw who the were called to save.
