I had a good week of training this past week. Mt sit bones are a bit sore as I increased my time in the saddle of the weekend. I need to get my tail use to sitting on a bike for longer than 45 minutes. My run on Sunday was much better than last week. Avg 12:20 for each mile and a bit longer than last weekend. Went skiing with the family yesterday as well, so all the activities have added up to sore legs today. Still did a very short run to keep up with my plan as much as possible. I found an interesting article on treadmill running vs road running. I do set my treadmill at a 1% incline, to even things out but.... http://www.livestrong.com/article/83376-treadmill-vs.-road/ Happy training all!! That's awesome. It will keep getting better every time... Where did you ski? I'm heading to Tahoe shortly for the first time in years.
We just went to a small ski resort outside of Syracuse, NY. We get plenty of snow but in general our mountains are not nearly as large as Tahoe, and some of the mountains in Vermont. This is ok for me as I have never skied until this year so I am pretty new and really haven't gotten off the beginner hills yet. My 8 and 10 year olds are skiing circles around me, and my wife grew up skiing. I'll have to graduate at some point to keep up with them. It has been fun, but if people think Triathlon is an expensive hobby they should try skiing. Edited by chmoore2 2013-02-12 11:19 PM |

Took me 1 hour, 38 minutes doing a run/walk. Like Yvonne, I have my first ever HM just under 8 weeks. I still can't run 3 miles non stop, but I happy. "I'm not dead YET" Legs don't feel to bad so maybe I will make it after all. May The Legs Be With You! Tom
Nice work Tom. You'll make it to your HM!! I am taking the same approach that they are good sessions if I can say I am not dead yet. |

Extreme Veteran 1222 Tallahassee, Florida | Subject: RE: Hashers and Mashers - Closed Hello H&M and former Mys-tri Tour folks. I wanted to pop in and tell you all Hi. What a great group you have here!!!! I knew this would be fun. I read over most of the posts and I want to say thank you because I have learned so much from all of you. It's helped me revise my training plan for my first duathlon and 2nd sprint tri. Jax, you are slaying it on the swim. Looks like you have conquered the panic issue. I'll try to channel you on my swim. Sarah, as a Hasher, I instantly understood the first part of the name. I must confess that Masher was a more foreign term for me. Can you tell I suck at the bike? And you are precious to ask if I should be included in the stats but no, keep that reserved for the H&M'ers and I'll just pop over occassionally and get inspired. Tom, I'm so excited for you on your TR!!!!! You will do great on your HM! There are other first time half marathoners here and you are all doing great on your training. I know that it seems so foreign when you are at 7 or 8 miles but it's amazing how fast it comes on. I envy you. Completing my first HM is in my top 7 major happy days in my life (after becoming a Christian, the birth of my son, my wedding, and I'm sure there are others) because I was changed after that. I think if I had done a tri first, maybe it would be different but for me, a HM was a life changer. Can't wait to read your race reports. You will all do great! Dave and Mike, I was ROTFLMAO on the hard versus easy discussion between you two. I favor the easy side - but I'm married to a "Go Hard or Go Home" guy. After our 15K last month, he was so p.o.'ed at me because I had been coaching him to go easy (he has a history of injuries at higher mileage) and then he felt he was too undertrained when he attempted to go hard. You both had oppo sides on the discussion and both were completely right. The discussion definitely kicked me out of my complancency (sp?) regarding bike training and I thank you both for that. I think the last time I checked in was Page 2 or so. I haven't forgotten you but life has been ridiculously busy for me as I did my LAST marathon (Be glad that you can't see me doing my happy dance with my ridiculous butt shake....oh yeah.), hubby did his first HM (with me as his "coach"), son has begun H.S. baseball games, work is crazy, and yadda, yadda, yadda. I think of you often, read frequently, but post rarely. Keep up the good work! |

What works for one person is not the solution for everyone. I'm not going to claim I'm right until I beat Dave on the bike, which isn't going to happen any time soon :-). |

Living in the southern hemisphere most of the good ski trips include a long plane flight and expensive accomodation. I look back at what I've spent over the years and cringe, but they've been some of the best times of my life. Wouldn't trade a single one, and hope to have many more. Stick with it, skiing is one of life's true luxuries, and besides, it's really good exercise...! |

Good idea. I know we mentioned this a while back but I have certainly made changes. My races: - Gatorade Sprint Tri (April 7) - MS Mega Swim (April 13/14) - Half Marathon (July 21) - Half Marathon (October 13) - Around the Bay in a Day (October 20) - Noosa Olympic Tri (November 3) I might drop an October event, but these are my current plans. |
