#466 -5 mi

#467- 2 quick miles miles after a 2+ hour drive, I did spend the day running around an indoor water park with my kids for my younger daughters birthday, I count that as an additional workout.

I'M BACK!!

#1: 3 muddy, muddy miles in our favorite local park. I'd love to hit the trails again tomorrow, but I don't think the dog would stand for being bathed two days in a row.

Glad to see the gang's still here.

#468 6.2 mi
#469- 3 mi
#470- 4 mi

Light week this week, was away two days, and worked a lot. Also really focusing on the bike. Will to a longer "guilt run" tomorrow to make up for my slacking this week.

Welcome back. Ron is off doing his 100 this weekend, and everyone else is still chugging along.

Run #498

Day 799, 2 miles
Day 800, 2 miles
Day 801 and 802, 100 miles, until I get home and uploaded my data not sure how much each day.

The skydive was amazing, went out at 14000 feet and opened the chute at 5000 feet. It was a hot humid day to start the run so I dialed my pace back early to save myself until the evening. The sun went down and my pace went up, I really got into a groove for several hours and then the thick fog set in around midnight. A lot of the run was though sugar cane fields with uneven footing so it was hard to see even with my headlamp. I ran when the surface was good and slowed down when it was not. When the sun came up, a beautiful sunrise, I was off again to get done before it got too hot. I managed to finish the race in 22 hours and 36 minutes and with the conditions I was very happy with that. Not sure what the high was Saturday but it would not surprise me if it got in the 90's.

I am at least 2nd in the race and maybe first, yes I may have won the race. The first place finisher has some timing discrepancies, I am being politically correct right now. It was an 8 mile loop overall but one side was 4.3 miles and the other was 2.7 miles that you had to do the complete loop 12.5 times. Now I passed this guy twice, yes lapped him twice and he never passed me once. I am glad it was electronically time so I am sure they will get it sorted out. You went across the timing mat after the 4.7 mile loop and also after the 2.7 mile loop and his timing shows he did several 4.7 miles loop under 16 minutes, I do not think so.

It is what it is though and I am happy with my finish and know I won the race whether I get it recognized for it or not. All the 100 mile runner know it to along with many of the shorter distance runners know it as well and we're very upset about it. I will do this race again in the future too, it was great. I saw 3 gators while running and 3 snakes, one was a water moccasin and the other two I was not sure of but I gave them their space.

Great job on the 100 mile and WIN!

I so want to do a 100 mile, without the skydive.

Ron, that's awesome. Congrats on the win.

How do you feel?

You motivate me to want to do ultras, but I just cant see myself training for IMs and ultras in the same year. Ill get out there one of these years, and hopefully follow in your footsteps (no pun intended).

Again, congrats, and huge, huge accomplishment.

Thanks guys, I feel pretty good today and day 803 I went out for a 2 mile run in the heat of the day here in south Florida. The recuperative powers of beer, pizza and wings which is what was for dinner last night. I talked with two runners who do full IM's and were out for the 100 miler this weekend. Not sure how they do it either but they were both much younger than me. And come if you sign up for an ultra called skydiveultra why would'nt you jump, it'll change your life. I can wait for my next skydive.

Congrat, Ron. Better you than me.

#2 - 4 miles
#3 - 2 miles

Looking forward to getting home this afternoon and getting out again. Even though it's only been a few days, it's sooooo good to be streaking again. My discipline and my body fell apart during my January vacation.

Mrheathen - welcome back. I guess you're not trailing me by a single day any more. I was hoping you'd stick with it, but glad to have you back either way.

Ron - fantastic work. Unlike others, you aren't motivating me to do ultras, but I am still in awe of your accomplishments. Amazing. Congrats on the win.

Monday - #190 - 4 miles after a 2K swim, and then went home and did an hour on the bike.

Wow...I am glad I got back in the water. That swim seemed to loosen up both of my tight Achilles. I was shocked.

Thanks again everyone, day 804 and another two miles. I am feeling much better than I did after my first 100 miler. It must be from all the miles I have been logging lately. Keep up the great work everyone. Next up for me is the Tobacco Road marathon next month in North Carolina.

Congratulations! That is incredible!

Tuesday - #191 - 2.5 miles, was going to roll 4, but just had one of those days where I just didn't feel it after getting out of the pool. Very blah.

Congrats officially then, though you knew you won earlier. No small feat to be the OA winner in a 100 mile race, and you are a 50+ masters runner as well. Very impressive.

Cant wait to see what you do next (besides the well deserved rest? Though I am not sure you know the meaning of the word).

dear god, man, I have no idea how you can do that on the treadmill. Granted, I have no idea how anyone is that fast anyways, but...
