Totally off topic but I have a question for the Americans. Yesterday I was told that I shouldn't celebrate July 4th because I'm not a citizen. I was really offended by this remark. You know. "When in Rome!". Does this mean that Americans overseas shouldn't celebrate it either? His reply? No, they are American. I could honestly have ripped him a new one. Of course you can celebrate!!! I have been in Mexico during Cinco de Mayo; I have been in France during Bastile Day and I have been in Japan on the Emperor's Birthday and I have definately enjoyed, ate, got drunk and had a great time at all of them. So as a member of the United States Military I say --- HAVE FUN AND PARTICIPATE!!!!!! I whole heartedly agree with this. x3. |

We are BBQing later I promise I'll post pics if that's ok?
Have a great 4th! |

Veteran 232 Rio Rancho, New Mexico | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july I finish work in 20 mins and will be going home to wholeheartedly enjoy what is left of the 4th of July.......and I am not a citizen either..... ........personally I think people I know would be more offended if I was to live here and refused to celebrate it with them.....no?....I live in the US because I love living here.......if I didn't I would move back to Scotland.....so I am gonna celebrate everything this country is about on the 4th July just like everyone else. I see places in New Mexico selling green margharitas on Paddy's day.....now what is that all about??? just my 2 cents Have fun at the BBQ.....I know I will. Expert 642 | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july 10 1/2 miles today - 3 in the pouring rain, 2 in the "lawn sprinkler" drizzle, the rest in overcast skies with a lot of water on the trail! It was great to run in the rain, though. |

I need some work, but still have time. I would like to have 9min/mi or better, but that I think might be a goal for another year. Ultimately I just want to finish the thing, so I try not to get wrapped up around times, though it is hard to do sometimes. Well Laura and I are going to the Denver Zoo for the afternoon. If I have any good pics I will post them later. |

Expert 642 | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july So, my 4th was kinda yuck...mostly because of the rain but for other reasons as well. However, I really love taking pictures so I tried to get my mind off the "other things" by focusing on taking some shots. Here's my little 4th of July story... Went to this property a friend of ours has along the Shenandoah River. I thought it would be a great chance for an OWS and since they said "bring your swimsuit" I did just that. Little did I know I would never get to swim in the River because where we were it was only about 1 1/2 - 2 feet deep. Here is my son (on the right, of course) SITTING on the bottom of the river: It rained during about 1/2 the evening and when it cleared a little I took my daughter out in the river as well. I didn't even put my suit on - just walked out into the river w/my shorts on and tried to keep her from being swept away in the current. The rocks were a little jagged on the bottom of the river so I made her wear her flip flops into the river. At one point one of her flip flops came off and went floating downstream. THANKFULLY my son went chasing after it and caught it before it ended up at the falls about 1/2 mile downstream! The rest of the night I just allowed her to stand near the water and throw rocks into it. I've gotta tell you - this girl has an ARM (and a butt crack from the looks of this pic!). Here are just a few pics of the location we were at - including a really "scary" looking tree (as my son calls it). Note the Shenandoah Mountain in the far distance engulfed in fog: Scary Tree: Edited by dcrunningdiva 2008-07-05 3:32 PM |

Elite 3494 Renton, Washington | Subject: RE: CASUAL run challenge--july Hi folks. Haven't done anything since Wednesday. I've had such a rotten weekend. I got a horrible voicemail from a friend saying hurtful things and I've been under the covers all day today. I can't bring myself to face the world. Things have been iffy with this person for a while and something I did set her off so I've been depressed, extremely all day. I take things like this too personally. I should bother a f**k with people like this. I'm just up at almost 10pm, look like I've been punched a few times in the eyes because I haven't been able to stop crying. I just want to go home and never return. Urgh.
Tomorrow I think I'm going to attempt a solo Olympic triathlon. Swim at the outdoor pool, bike the trail and then run part of it. I need to expel energy and I need to quit moping like an arse and let other people think they can get the better of me. I can't carry on being walked all over. No more. It's just times like these I feel like the only person on the planet. Sigh. No fireworks or BBQ for me either. I felt so sick I've only just eaten. Yes, the 1st since yesterday afternoon.
Think happy thoughts for me, please |

Hm, take pictures and post them. Because everyone here loves pictures. (Although, don't take the camera in the pool.... unless it's a waterproof one, that is!) |

Think happy thoughts for me, please Lynne, I can totally relate to the "kicked in the gut" type of feeling. The tri will really help - just go out there and push yourself (but not TOO hard) and let some of that frustration out. Take it from me - I know. Sorry to hear about this. You can and will get through it. |
