I had a really good race yesterday. I did struggle on the run a little, but that was expected due to my light run volume recently as I nursed injuries.

Race consisted of 2 600 yard OWS seperated by a beach run, 17 mile MTB, and 5+ mile trail run. Total time was 2:46:41. I was shooting for under three hours, so I'm very satisfied.

Apparently, results are under protest, so I'm not going to post my results yet. Very frustrating situation. This is the second year in a row that the race director has done a poor job marking the course. Several riders made wrong turns and in some cases were directed the wrong way. I don't understand how he can rectify the situation now though.

Howdy guys.  Got another run/swim/bike in today.  wife and daughter went out with all the ladies in the family so I had my son and we did manly things today!

Hit EMS (like REI but out east), Pizza, Subway, YMCA, Denny's.  All the good things.

Got a pair of Vibram Five Fingers to start training with those on the run.  My last 3 shoe purchases have been flats and I want to see how these work out as well.  Going to take it nice and easy to build up to them but I put 1 mile in them today already.

Hope I don't wake up with a broken foot!

Check back in with you guys tomorrow.  Update the spreadsheet - tomorrow is first standings day!

Bill, I think I've finally found someone that eats more than me!

Good morning!
Breakfast in bed is a tradition in our house on both Mother's and Father's day.  I commondeered the kids for most of the day yesterday while my wife went out with her mom and my mom.  It was pretty chilly here, so we didn't get out except to run some errands.  I did a 45 minute trainer ride this morning only to realize that biking was not in the training plan for today, so I'll have to shuffle some workouts around this week.  But hey, a workout is a workout!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I had an awesome 13km trail race that was basically straight up a mountain, a run around the plateau and then back down.  The last 9k took as long as the first 4!  But it was a blast.  The picture below shows the mountain we ran up in the distance.

Sitting at 53km (~33mi) of 170km (~106mi) running completed so far.  I've hit all my runs expect for a short 5k yesterday.  I will hopefully make it up today.

I'm in Brazil for a couple days.  The training will take a bit of a hit since it's about 24 hours travel in both directions, split over 2 days each way.  Hopefully I can getg a run or two in.

Wow... That is a brutal run.  I see why they call it the "Gutbuster".  Congrats on just finishing!

That is awesome!

Very nice. We won't have snow free trails until mid June or later this year. Its May and we're still getting snow.

Congrats on the races this weekend guys. I'm jealous. I'm trying to find a race for May. I'm kind of bummed because I'm not really finding any that fit the schedule. I also found out the family camp/reunion is the same weekend as my first marathon for the year. I had four on the schedule, didn't get into two and now this one may get knocked off the list. My wife went to the reunion on her own last year and it was a horrible experience for her so I don't know if I feel good about doing that again.

My first tri of the season is less than 3 weeks away and I am very excited about it.  This will be my 3rd year doing this one (Tri for our Veterans in Sea Isle, NJ).  It's a sprint race and lots of fun.  But the swim is killer... ocean swim and the water temp is usually below 60.

I got my 2nd workout in today, a 30 min swim at the Y.

I got a good brick workout in today.  Our weather turned south again, so I rode the trainer then battled rain for my run.

I did an hour worth of big ring - little ring drills on the trainer and followed it wih a twenty minute run.  Run was not so fun with swirling winds and intermittent showers.  Had to do it though, I don't want my chicken legs posted as my avatar!

BTW, I wrote a race report in my blog if interested.  I'm over the controversy and posted my unoffical results too.

I think the total height of the mountain is just over 500m (~1640ft) and we started pretty much at sea level.  However there was a ton of rolling terrain once at the top so probably a little more total elevation gain over the course.

Good morning, men,
60 min trainer ride this morning.  Going for a short run at the Y (probably treadmill) at lunchtime.  Looks like our cold streak may finally be coming to an end.  I think tomorrow may actually get into the 70's.  Frost on the windshield this morning.  I know I won't get much sympathy from those of you that are still looking at snow... I can't even imagine!

I'm well ahead of goals and I may actually have to adjust my goals upward to keep things fair.  This is my first full month in my 20-week HIM training program, so my volume has gone WAAAAY up.  I set my goals for this month by adding 10% to last month's totals, but it looks like I'm on pace to do 150% of goals.  I believe in sandbagging a little (especially when there's leg shaving on the line), but that's a little rediculous!

Have a great day, team!
