Thursday - #305 - 2 miles
Friday - #306 - 2 miles
Saturday - #307 - 3.1 miles, first Tri of the year. Stubbed my toe in T1 pretty bad. Was bleeding and not bending it easily. Got through the run without much pain though. 24:30 or so, which is a PR for me in a triathlon at least.

#585- 3 mi after 2500yd swim (20 x 100 on 1:50, which is good for me), 90 min bike. It was one of those days where I just couldn't fathom that I still had to run. Felt ok in the end though.

#586- 10.5 mi , did 2500 yd this morning again with 10 x 200 main set on 3:45, which again wasn't bad for me, I was hitting my 100s on 1:40, maybe I have some hope swimming. The run was great though. I wasn't sure what I'd have in my legs at the end of a tough training week, but I held most of my miles in the 7:30 to 7:40 range, and then brought it home strong and dropped my pace to 6:20s on the last 2 miles or so, and besides a bit of stiffness in the legs, I felt strong, breathing was good, not labored at all.

You got that right. Huge bruise, swollen up, and a nice cut. Luckily running doesn't seem to really hurt it. Trying to curl the toe does, but oh well.

Sunday - #308 - 2 miles easy

#104 - 3.7
#105 - 3.3
#106 - 2.1

I was on my feet for ~24 hours between Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and in the sun most of it. Fortunately it wasn't too hot, but I am wrecked today. I'm thinking about taking up meth to get myself through the rest of the day and the game I'm umping tonight.

#587- 2 mi, recovery day

#588- 20 mi, with 5 miles tearing up the trails. Good run, just hot, ran early afternoon. Had to ration my fluids a bit, going to have to start running by some of my "filling stations." As it gets hotter the 30ish ounces my belt carries is just not going to cut it for my longer runs.

Day 923, 7.2 mile progressive run. I need to get some speed work going, next race is a half marathon in just over three weeks. I am hoping to run my first sub 1:35 half.

Anne Arundel County is a swamp. I forget that from time to time, but 90% humidity at 5 am reminded pretty quickly this morning. I think I might leave the shirt at home tomorrow and just run in my reflective vest.

I've found two good workouts, for me, that are a good predictor of HM performance.

1) 2 mile warmup, 2 x 4 mi race pace with 1 mile recovery in between, 2 mile cool down

or

2) 5 mile warm up/comfortable pace, 7 mile race pace, 1 mile cool down

The logic is that the adrenaline of race day, the taper, and mental toughness will get you the 5-6 additional miles.

I will try these workouts and see how I do. Thanks for the info.

Day 924, 4 miles. I have too much going on today to run any longer. I hate it when life gets in the way of running,

#589 - 2 mi, swim earlier, 1 hr bike after. Run was meant to be recovery, but I practically sprinted home the last mile so my daughters wouldn't miss a huge rainbow (they are 5 and 7 and rainbows are a pretty big deal). I yelled "rainbow!" and my wife already had them in the bath, they jumped out and ran dripping through the house to look out to see the rainbow. They were happy.

#590 - 4 mi. Intended to be a brick after 4.5 hours on the bike, but instead of running, I lied down on the carpet for awhile, I did not have the energy to run at all. Ran a few hours later and I actually felt fine. Must have been a hydration or nutrition issue on the bike, it was a challenging workout, but I shouldn't have felt as bad as I did.

Monday - #309 - 2 miles before my bike TT
Tuesday - #310 - 2 miles after 2500y in the pool. First mile easy, second mile pretty hard.
Wednesday - #311 - 3 miles with some alternating speed work/rest intervals

I have some lingering soreness issues. Been trying to back off just a little bit in order to be ready for my second tri of the year this coming weekend. I really want to race well here, as this is the race in which I ended up straining a calf muscle last year. I was top 3 out of the water in my swim wave, and it turned out I was *easily* the first out of the water in my particular age group. Halfway to the transition area I went down, having felt like I was kicked in the back of the leg. Totally bummed me out, because I was primed for a fast race and, after looking at the finisher times, think I would have had a good chance at hanging on for an age group medal.

I've already seen the participant list for my AG this time, and a medal would be very tough to obtain. Not out of the question, but I figure there's about 5 or 6 of us that will be vying for the 3rd place spot. 1st and 2nd are kind of a given (unless they place top 3 in the overall race, which is moderately possible). There's a pretty good drop off to where the next group of us should be, if I am reading things right.

#592- 4 mi after 1 hour bike, also did 2750 yd swim in early am, with IM training in full gear I've had to give in and do all my swims early morning, there is not enough time in the day otherwise.

#593- 11 mi mid afternoon. Getting used to the heat, temps in the low 80s and felt fine. Also did another morning swim of 2500 yd, got just over 10k yards swimming for the week.
