You know what is so cool about these challenges?  They make me realize that sometimes...I UNDERestimate my own abilities.  I hope that's true for you guys too...today, I ran and the 4 miles puts me less than 10 miles from my goal...how cool is that!

I really thought when I started this month I would have a hard time and now...I wonder what else I have been selling myself short on...

I love these challenges!!!!

that is waaaay cool!

congratulations

I WRALKED so I'm feeling pretty good right now too

Hi Karen

Glad to hear from you.....no worries about being far and in between with posting....we understand! All our lives get hectic and we just have to learn to prioritize what it most important.  Sounds like you are staying on top of keeping in shape and reaching your goals soooooo you gooooo girl! Way to get out and run in the snow...be careful not to fall. I used to live in Anchorage and know how difficult that can be....I used to think running on the beach was tough til I did a snow run! Have fun and keep in touch! Thanks for the bike envy...you can come and borrow it anytime!!! ;O)

LOL...As soon as I book a flight...that bike is MINE to borrow!  Anchorage - how cool!  (no pun intended) I bet it was gorgeous there, and cold!

Hi Karen...when you reply to our messages it easier for everyone to follow if you use the quote button instead of the reply. It made no sense to me when I first began but this way it shows both the person who wrote to you and the reply you write in the same box...does that make sense? if not I will try to explain better! Thanks for the message....have a great week and get out there and run for the blisters!

OBTW - GO CHARGERS!!!!

HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY!!! I am going to look for a couple three road bikes to buy today....WOO HOO!!! our family has been bitten HARD by the tri-bug!!!

Have fun Julie, hope you find what your looking for.

Thanks Hector...I have a couple in mind...Just have to narrow it down and purchase. Glad to see that you are feeling better...do not overdo it. I am going to to watch the football game and make a lil breakfast...but thought that I would let you know that there has been breaking news in your area...and I know that you have been sick and all, so I wanted to forwarn you that there have been some beer bear that have been spotted in the Camp Pendleton Area and have been reaking havoc on runners, bikers and hikers...this was a picture that was taken of the last victim....so be beery beary careful when you do start running again! hehehe

sick of the beer/bear jokes, yet?

Have a good Sunday all you blisters!

LOL, I'll make sure I watch out for them.

OK OK...I will stop with the beer bear jokes...hope you are feeling better! I know this past week of being sick is a big bummer and you are ready to get back to working out and running...just do not over do it!

Oh and I have this joke....

Two campers were hiking in the forest when all of a sudden a bear jumps out of a bush and starts chasing them. Both campers start running for their lives, when one of them stops and starts to put on his running shoes.

His partner says, “What are you doing? You can’t outrun a bear!”

His friend replies, “I don’t have to outrun the bear, I only have to outrun you!”

OK, so I lied about stopping the bear jokes/cartoons/antics! Feel better Hector!

It's the end of Challenge Week #2!
Time to update the spreadsheet with your totals!

1) Go to: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=puhAA5NRKHA2KwxuUapIpeg&... 2) You will need to enter this info: email address: [email protected] password: challengeforum 3) The ONLY column that you will need to update is "Total Completed to Date." This is the total amount that you have completed as of the reporting date. 3) You can update the spreadsheet as often as you'd like. However.... Your cumulative amounts must be entered in this spreadsheet by Sunday evening, your time on the following days: - Jan 6 - Jan 13 - Jan 20 - Jan 27 - Jan 31 4) If you have trouble using this spreadsheet, please let your Team Captain know. He/she will be able to help you, or will enter the data for you.

Thanks Beth, I noticed you already entered my numbers.

X2 - Uze da best Beth!!!

Good morning all...Not much going on the thread...so, I thought I would let everyone know that I did buy two ride bikes yesterday for us. Nothing too fancy, but we thought they would be sufficient for us beginners. I bought a '07 Raleigh Cadent Full Carbon Bike and an '06 Giant TCR C3 for my hubby...we are still workiing on the daughters bike...we got all kinds of goodies....new helmets, shoes, pedals, shorts, seat packs, C2O fills with a pump, waterbottles, patches, knobby tire for those cross training days...so, I will be biking to and from work today. It is probably 12-15 miles...but with my computer will be able to tell you exactly when I return tonight! Every have a good day...I am going to inspire you all and go to work! Hope the inspiring works and everyone does some type of workout today! Have a great Monday! Here are pics of the bikes:

and this is my hubbies new bike:

Nice bikes Julie!  Now get out there and ride, good thing you are almost done with your running goalWink.  Be careful with that commuter traffic, sometimes here in "Joisy" they are not so nice.

When is Hubby's blog going to show up here?

Thanks darling! I love it. I rode it to work today. Its about 10 miles and is slightly uphill on the way to work...which makes it very east to get home. ) My husband and I have been mtn biking the area for years - so I know the back roads and use them. Plus there are so many cyclists around here that there are quite a few bike lanes to use....but I will definitely heed your advice and be very careful.....I love the joisy comment. We used to meetspend a week in Joisey every summer for vacation. We woud stay in Avalon. We would travel up and down the garden state hwy to Cape May and make the one visit to Atlantic City to do a little slots. Are you anywhere near there?

Hubbys blog will only be a part of mine. He has a bad hip, so he can not run. So he is going to be my best cheerleader! and a cute one at that! he he! what is great about him getting his bike is that he will be great for my training. He loves to climb hills...and I like downhill....you know momentum! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

we forgive you! I had a week like that myself - lots going on that got in the way - this week I'm on though!

those early mornings are tough!

Haha thanks.  I took a quick look at the spreadsheet - looks like everyone is doing great.

Oh yeah, and one more thing - I just registered for my first half marathon!!  Ack!!  I guess I have until March 9th to run enough that I don't DIE =)

On the same vein...has anyone here followed Hal Higdon's plans?  I'm a few weeks into his novice half marathon plan, and the only thing that worries me about it is that the longest run is 10 miles.  I mean, I don't really have enough time to build up to a longer run than that before the race, but still is that enough to safely complete the half?

...In short - eek!  What have I gotten myself into??

well, i have the runner's world 16 weeks plan and my longest long run is also 10 miles so, we'll be 2 having trouble at the half mary Surprised Seriously, if we fallow the intensity (hard being hard and easy well, you get the point) i think it will be ok...i hope so!

the longest i've ever run was 8-ish miles, and that was pretty much at my peak in like oct-nov.
so i need to build up to that again
i've never really looked at the plans here on bt, maybe i should start there, and go to rw.com too
anyway, if someone has a link??

It seems like the training plans seem to be pretty good - I know that I followed the BT plans for my first tris - and was pleasantly surprised

you just go to www.runnersworld.com and choose the smart coach application. All you need is the most recent time you did in a race (or a chrono of a mile run).

Hey everyone, like i said I'm starting to feel so much better. I'm just down to a cough and I can say today has been the best I felt in two weeks. I logged three more miles on the treadmill. I figure I'll run on that and stay out of the cold night air till I'm fully recovered. With any luck I should be between 50% and 65% by the end of the week.
