Hey blizzards, we've blown into FIRST PLACE!!

It isn't quite as good as it seems. I've e-mailed Renee about the difference.

Keep up the swimmin' (I don't know how reliable my internet access will be over the next two weeks.)

Blizzards looking good -- And -- If my own little spot check of the Crazy Canucks numbers are correct, Canda has fallen to 4th place.  But this definately NOT official!  Only my take of what was on the individual team members logs, converted to meters, and calculated out. (ok -- so I had a few minutes to kill)  But I'm not the official scorekeeper, but I had to see where TEAM UTAH sits in the mix.  I also did not include in my little calculation of  2 of the other non-reporting teams!  (I looked at Georgia -- they aren't even close!

All that said -- Even though I tip my hats to the Blizzards, TEAM UTAH is coming up fast!  Several of us will be at or above goal by Wednesday this week!  And the best part of all this --- The south is melting under the heat Team Utah and the Blizzards are putting on them!

GO TEAM UTAH

Hey Team!  I'm back in town and ready to roll.  Thank you everyone who posted concerns about my dog.  It was a tough week and weekend.

Wednesday night my dog (jack russell terrier) started squinting her left eye.  She had cataract surgery about 10 months ago.  Thursday morning I awoke and found her eye was completely sealed shut from infection and swelling.  My swim was scheduled at noon and I knew I was going to be late.  I took her to the vet at 10 AM.  The vet said her cornea was separating and ulcerated and needed to see an opthamologist right away.  The closest opthamologist is in Ames, IA which is a 3-hour drive each way.  Now I know I was going to miss the swim entirely.  I hoped in the car and took off.  I got back in town at 8 PM.  No swim that day.  Friday I had to catch a flight to Chicago at 4 PM.  I sucked it up and went to the pool Friday morning and squeezed in a lane along with 15 old folks who were doing a water fitness class.  I wasn't supposed to be in the pool but I snuck in anyway.  I knocked out the quickest 2500 I could then got on the treadmill.  Off to the airport at 2 PM.  Got there early, learned that the flights to and from Chicago were all running late, very late.  Ended up taking 7 hours to travel one hour.  Got into Chicago at 10 PM, supposed to be there at 6 PM.  Damn I hate traveling during the holidays.  It was a very stressfull trip.

Now I'm back and heading to the pool this afternoon.  I have a few yards to make up and I'm feeling fairly good.  I'll soon see what I'm capable of.  I'm hoping for at least 3500, but we'll see.

My dog is doing better by the way.  Thanks for listening.

Go Blizzards!  You all are kicking some major arse!

Only my take of what was on the individual team members logs, converted to meters, and calculated out.

Just lurking in competitor land here.. wanted to point something out: All Canadians measure their swimming in meters (our pools are in metric, after all), so our logs do not need to be converted again

Don't know if that changes your calculations, but I thought I'd just poke my head in here to let ya know. Heck, I'm interested in where we stand too!

Yes-- I know you report in meters, but my BT profile is set to yards.  SO, I had to go in and convert my BT Profile to meters to get the numbers in the right "format" if you will.  Then I changed back the the US way of doing things -- inches/feet/yards! haha

Go TEAM UTAH

Oipolloi - Sorry to hear about the dog episode. Makes me want to go home and hug mine while I still have her. When my last dog went down with a ruptured tumor in her sinuses i spent the night sitting in an emergency vet clinic - only to be told to take her home and call my vet to put her down in the morning. Toughest thing I every had to do!

The meters / yards thing is a bit confusing. It looks to me that I committed in meters to 25,000. I thought that I was working towards yards; nontheless I will finish 3450 on Thursday to be 100 percent of goal in METERS. Hopefully with the holidays I can fit a few more swims in just to go over.

I'm trying to figure out how to show the spreadsheet.

It looks to me that
Nccgrap is 2500 of 20000 for 13% and
TripleThreat is 4000 of 18000 for 22%.
Am I right? If so, I hate to call you two out but we seriously can't win this without being perfect. One of the other teams, if not more than one, will be perfect.

I second what Bikingbruise said.  I haven't heard much from nccgrap or triplethreat.  Not to call you two out, but myself and a few others have really put a lot of effort in to making sure we reach our goals in order to help the team win.  Not being a swimmer, it's difficult for me to get to the pool twice a week and get in the goal yardage.  That is why BT and this challange is so great.  Without it I doubt I would force myself to put in so much time in the pool.  We're here for you guys!  You can do it!  We are all counting on you guys to win this thing.

FWIW, I'm now at 100% +200 yds for good measure.

Yep, we NEED to be at 100%, in my opinion. Thanks for all the incentives from all of you serious swimmers on the Blizzards...

I reached my goal yardage this morning.

100.1%

with one scheduled swim to spare. Then it's off on vacation and a little clorine detox.

Congratulations to Dan and Ray!  You did it!   Now its time for the rest of us to to step up and reach our goals.

I'm at 19,120 yards, which leaves 3,880 left to reach my goal.  I only have two more days left on my schedule at the pool,. which doesn't give me much room for error.

You guys and girls have been great motivation.

Go Blizzards!

Come on Blizzards! We can do it!!!! We've got a week and a half to reach our goals! How are you going to accomplish your goal?

I've got a total of 9400 yards down. I've got a swim planned Friday (1650 yds), Monday (1400 yds) and next Friday (2200 yds). That should put me over my goal if I get all three swims in, but I have allowed myself the possibility of missing one swim (in case I can't get to the pool on Monday).

Swim Blizzards Swim, Whoo Hoo!!

Everyone is doing great!

I got a bonus 2200 yards yesterday, before we left town.

Anybody got some suggestions for the NYC transit strike?
(As we strategize 2 1/2 "fun filled" days in the Big Apple with no public transit.)

I'm done. Did 5400 meters today. I'm sitting at about 27000 on my 25000 meter goal. If we win it will be up to whoever is left.

Today is my day to finish (1200 yds at lunch)! Watch for some of the possible tiebreakers. I have suggested a swim off month using the same goals as Dec. Extra swimming is good right! YOu guys have been such a great encouragement this month. Thank you very much - and its OK to peek in my logs and say on my rear!
